Bug Boxes
Cute as a bug's ear, and a good way to see one. A two-piece box with a magnifying lens built into the lid. The tops are clear while the bottoms are see-thru in either smoke, green, pink, or blue colors. The idea is to imprison a bug, a bug's ear, a coin, a rock, or any other suitably scaled examinee, and to pass it around so everyone can get a good look. A nifty way to present collections or to build displays. In all candor, the image ain't great. It works, it's a good idea, and kids love 'em, but the execution needs a little work before we approach the jewelers. They are 1” Square cubes and magnify 3x.

Mount That Specimen
Cases for mounting butterflies, bugs, rocks, fossils or any other three dimensional collectibles. Known as Riker mounts, these are sturdy cardboard boxes 7/8" deep, with glass glued into the front cover for viewing. They are filled with a fairly firm, white, expanded, synthetic, cotton–like material. The cushiony filler holds the three–dimensional viewee in place without pins or glue. Very handy for the proud trophy hunter. Our smaller is 5–1/4” x 6–1/4”; larger is 12” x 16–1/2”.

Fantastic Ant Farm
Ant farming has been reborn since NASA got interested in insectaries and Fascinations® started manufacturing AntWorks". What used to be a dark, earthen ant farm is now a curvilinear plastic habitat containing gel the color of a Caribbean dive site. The clear turquoise gel is the food, water and housing medium of the insects, which you may capture locally, or order via mail. We ordered ours, the better to avoid militant army or fire ants or feuding factions, and it worked out just fine. The ants dig relentlessly for weeks, and you can easily observe them constructing and connecting a maze of tunnels. It's utterly fascinating. The 6" x 5-1/2" x 1-1/4" thick space-age habitat comes with an educational booklet, simple instructions (there's practically nothing to do), the address of the ant dealer -- and a tight lid.

That's for entymological pins if you're not in the business of mounting butterflies and their little friends, but these black enameled pins are longer, stronger and thinner than regular straight pins, and are used widely by artists, galleries, lace-makers, surgeons, taxidermists and other folks with a need for ultra-thin, coated pins. Encased Arachnids
Dead, but still the best of breed. These are REAL, perfectly preserved, used-to-be-alive specimens entombed forever in protective acrylic, suitable for desktop display or engraving as an award. Our lone scorpion (approx 4-1/4" long) is at rest, with a relaxed tail, inside a 5-3/8" x 3-3/8" x 1-3/8" acrylic block. The hairy tarantula is in a 5-3/8" x 3-1/2" X 1-3/8" acrylic block, and the twofer is (1) of each inside a free-form, rough-sided acrylic block, approx 8" x 7" x 1-3/4". All three will lay flat or stand up. Each comes inside a dark blue presentation case with a magnetic clasp. Those awards? We suggest "most predatory" or "hairiest back," depending.

Wedding Veil
Young brides simply can't afford to contract malaria on their wedding day. That's why we recommend you buy these finely meshed white nylon bags and cut them into veils. If you're already hitched, use them as intended: as insect bags. The bags are zippered and made of a light material, which lets air through, thus holding butterflies or other specimens, but not damaging them.
