Clever little mind teaser of the travel toy variety. A black plastic case, 3-1/4" x 3-5/8" x 3/8" holds (10) different brightly colored plastic blocks or shapes. Pick one of the shapes and place it in a corner of the holder. Then try to get the others to fit in. You can start with any of the shapes and there are over (60) solutions, so the little dears won't get too frustrated. Fun for the geometrically minded. Ages 6 and up.

Anyone can write lightweight sentiments and Moon-June-Spoon verse with the standard magnetic poetry sets. It takes a special mind – and our special Word Play™ Refrigerator Magnets -- to add real interest to the old Kelvinator. Each set gives you (350) magnets in a jewel case, including both esoteric and common words, suffixes and punctuation marks. The Aliens (encounter, terrifying, creature…) and Ghost Story (eerie, Halloween, spook…) words are Glow-in-the-Dark white on black that glow for an hour and recharge in a few seconds of light. The Gross & Weird (rubbery, spider, larvae…) are black-on-white, and include (12) blanks and a pencil so you can write your sweetheart’s name in the appropriate space. These were pre-priced to sell in stores at $9.99 each. Our rock-bottom price lets you buy all (3) for melodramatic mixing and matching.

Just like on TV. Bozo may be gone, but his Buckets live on, and you can still play Larry Harmon's Bozo" the Clown Bucket Bonanza Grand Prize Game". Includes (6) authentic, numbered and Bozo-emblazoned buckets 6" across, the red plastic runner to snap them to, and (2) genuine, Bozo-approved ping-pong balls, all of which fit into an amazingly compact box for storage. Comes with the Rooten Tooten Rules, but does not include any handsome prizes, which you will have to supply. (See the rest of this catalog.)

Board games meet Ramses in the 21st century. Khet, The Laser Game, is played on an 80-square grid with a pharaoh and obelisk playing king and pawn, sort of, plus a mirrored pyramid and a wandering "djed," and it's chess-like, except for the lasers firing from the corners and bouncing off the mirrors. The board measures 17-3/8" x 14-1/4" x 1-1/4" tall and the game is over when the pharaoh gets zapped. Includes (4) "AAA" batteries. For (2) players, ages 9 and up. Double the fun by adding the Eye of Horus Beam Splitters to the basic game (our each is a set of 2), and fire two lasers where there was a single one.

Nice. Made from thick composition board, it's 15-1/2" sq x 5/8" thick with black and pearly grey squares, non-slip feet at the corners, and a 1-1/8" wide x 3/8" high border, in case you slip. Bonus: it does not come with the too-cutesy woodland chess pieces it was made for, which means you don't have to throw away the toadstool pawns. Good, of course, for checkers, too. Originally $19.95.

Or an effective child-silencing puzzle, anyway. This clever thingy is a 10-1/4" long x 3-1/2" dia clear plastic tube full of plastic sprinkles (Jimmies, for those of you on the East Coast) with (47) slightly larger trinkets (a bell, pearl, baseball, penny, etc.) lost among them. The silent child sits in the back seat and turns the tube around and around while trying to find them and checking them off the enclosed list (you'll get a 50-sheet pad of them) and the next thing you know you're there yet. And yes, the octagonal ends are securely glued on so they can't open it and dump the sprinkles all over, the diabolical little rugrats. Also strangely compelling for fully grown adults. At least around here.

We're dancing with the stars all over our office this week! We got this Dance Maker® Dancing in the Dark game from another national catalog house whose customers, apparently, were too dull or feeble to have the kind of fun we're having with it. Think of it as karaoke for the feet, as you gyrate on the colorful stars that light up in dance-step sequences on the 39" x 31" heavy-duty plastic pad. It plays (4) different dance patterns for each of the (3) different songs that are built into it, and has (3) different speed/skill levels. You can dance like a pro and not look down at your feet if you use the projection feature on the 12" x 16" control unit. Has focus, volume, mute switches (add your own music!). Bring your rhythm, and (3) "D" batteries.

They're full-color, punch-out models that start out looking like credit cards and end up standing up by themselves. The appeal? They're small, entertaining, dirt cheap, and there are a whole lot of them. Kidlets age 6 and up will be tied up for hours assembling and playing with these packs of (9) different pirate ships, dinosaurs or tropical fish, all approx 2" long, or the slightly smaller (approx 1-1/2" when assembled) packs of (14) transformer bots or spaceships and alien creatures.

…you'll love the ball. Much more pleasing than a cube, this 3-1/4" dia plastic sphere puzzle, called the K-ball, asks you to match up multiple stripes, circle quadrants, and colors. In assorted bright colors, we think it's tougher than the cube to solve, but much more attractive even when you can't, plus you can play catch with it.

Newspaper Sudoku not tough enough for you? You show-off. Try solving the Sudokube®, the evil spawn of a rogue Rubik's Cube® and a wayward Sudoku maiden. You twist away at the 2" x 2" black-and-white plastic cube, until each of the (6) sides displays digits 1 through 9. Extra credit if they're all in the right order with the numbers facing the same way. Only took us 12 minutes, but we used a hacksaw and some epoxy. Packaging says it's "For Ages Over 5." Right.
