Or the Swanee whistle. Whatever you call it, this little slide whistle (just consider it the smallest trombone in the universe) has an outsized musical history. No elevator has ever fallen in a cartoon without its accompaniment, and no jug band is complete without one, but Louis Armstrong also played one on his Hot Five recordings, and Ravel even required one in an opera score. Stretchipedalian Fun

Direct from the confluence of kooshy toys and elongated insects come the absurdly stretchy, spiked caterpillar and centipede, the answer to a bored entomologist's dream. The stretchipillar is about 3" dia x 11" long, with big googley eyes, but he'll stretch to about 10 feet. The skinnier stretchipede is 9" long with 1-1/2" long soft spikes and will also reach about 10 feet when pulled in opposite directions. Both are cute as bugs and both have that comforting kooshish feeling when fondled. We'll select from assorted bright colors for you. Ages 8 and up, since eyeballs are easily swallowed.

Fired responsibly, the pistol poses no threat of destroying a silk purse, or anything else, with a sow's ear. It just offers a fun time lobbing (20) tiny swine at a target -- or maybe at a bowl of sauerkraut. Out of pigs? Buy some extras for only (2) bucks!

Our most seductive tabletop walker...er, make that slitherer. The Sidewinder is a 5-1/4" long, plastic, triple-hinged wind-up snake that does indeed sidewind along surfaces. The grey set includes (2) gargoyles, (3) skeleton grim reapers in kilts and leggings and (1) strongman giant holding a box or block. Our Teal set has (4) Norse type axmen, (3) Norse type swordsmen and a giant hairy Yeti. All nicely molded, still on their sprue. In each case, you get (2) sprues, each of which has the full set detailed above.
