Slices Of Agate

Our best and prettiest-ever slices of polished agate, showing concentric rings of natural color. The slices range from 3" to 4-1/2" across and from 1/8" to 3/16" thick. We've seen samples from milky white to blue, purple, red, yellow and brown. No two alike, by definition. We'll choose. Think scientific specimens, framed art, coasters, trivets, paperweights, or skipping stones for rich kids who don't want to search the beach for flat stones.

Volcanic Popcorn Specimen

Volcanologists call these popcorn hyalite bombs because they're globs of molten lava that were spit out of vents on a volcanic cinder cone, flew through the air expanding (like popcorn), and came to rest as glass-rich pieces of hyalite. These are from Echo Mountain in the Medicine Lake Highlands of northern California, and yours will be approx 3-1/2" dia, give or take, since volcanoes won't spit to order.

Ugly Outside, Beautiful Inside

Like a shar-pei, or Marty Feldman, cystoid geodes are not so attractive on the outside, but beautiful on the inside. Actually, they're among the geological world's most beautiful crystal formations. And these are pre-cracked, so you're guaranteed a beauty every time. They average 3" to 4" dia in varying shapes with high-grade quartz crystals inside. The halves fit together perfectly and are held with a rubber band to protect them in shipping.
