Made as professional pancake molds (yeah, it was news to us, too), these bright stainless steel rings are screaming (we can hear them all the way in the office) for creative folks to free them from the kitchen. They're 6-1/2" dia x 1-3/4" tall with rolled top and bottom edges. We're thinking great light fixture parts, ring-toss games, tyke's tiaras, stands for basketballs, metal sculptures, bracelets for Clydesdales…. You'll get a half-dozen.

The balsa bag weighs almost 3/4 of a pound, and is a random assortment of balsa that may range from 1/8" square strips to a 5" long x 2" square hunk, and lots in between. The basswood may have half a dozen 5" long x 2" square pieces, 8" x 3" sheets, and a whole bunch of 1/16" to 1/8" strips. Whatever the variety of sizes, either bag will total approx 72 cubic inches in all, which is more than it sounds like.

Enough balls to make a beauty of a bearing! The 5/16" dia steel balls arrived in a case pack marked Grade 500. We don't know what it means, either, but we're very impressed with their potential! Bonus! Some may even have some light rusting.

Another gem plucked from the A.S.&S. mirabilia. The shape and size of a hen egg, this opaque stone (or matte-finished glass - we're not sure which) is interesting in itself. Touched with a red penlight in a dark room, the entire egg becomes a brilliant ruby color. Blue light/blue egg, etc. Fun and fascinating, and with a little sleight of hand, a sure way to convince the plebeians that you have some mysterious metaphysical power.

Fiberglass rod, 3/16" dia. It is quite stiff, but flexible and we will give you a 10 ft length coiled. Nice yellow plastic coating. Since the world court has ruled out caning, you are going to have to come up with your own use for it.

Born to live on an ignominious exercise device of some sort, this sturdy, black, open-cell foam cylinder is 5-1/2" long x 2-7/8" dia with a 1/2" ID bore through its center. We see it threaded on nylon rope for life as a pool-lane or lakefront-swimming-area divider, or as a tasteful boat bumper. (Yes, it floats.) But it has lots of bumper-type, uses, too, like slipping a couple behind a step-on garbage can to keep it from bumping into the kitchen wall. Just for starters. Think about the potential….

PVA blocks. You'll get (6) blocks of polyvinyl alcohol sponge, 3-7/8" x 1-7/8" x 1-1/8". PVA is the stuff that Rubbermaid® PVA mop-heads are made from. Dries super-hard and very dense (might even be carve-able, or workable with wood tools when dry) but is extremely absorbent when soaked for a while in water. The blocks make very nice sponges, but we suspect myriad arts and crafts uses for this stuff. Please call us as you discover them.
