Odd DPST lever toggle switch rated 12 a @ 125 VAC, 6 a @ 250 VAC, 1/2 Hp. It has a 2-3/4" x 1-3/8" x 3/4" thick body on one end of which is the lever arm. Said arm protrudes nearly 1" from the body with the last 1/2" being a "C" shaped jaw. Line up a bunch of them, slip a 1/4" to 1/2" dia dowel through all their jaws, and you can gang switch any number of circuits.

Very interesting, our switching maven says. This brand new, air-pressure-activated switch made for a Sears well pump has a DPST normally-closed relay, which is nominally rated for 40psi cut-on and 60psi cut-off, but can be adjusted with (2) internal screws. The air inlet is 1/4" -18 NPT female (7/16" ID). The switch contacts are rated for 20A at 115V and 12A at 230V, 1.5 and 2 hp, respectively. The unit measures 2-5/8" x 3-15/16" X 2-1/2" OA, not counting the NPT fitting, and has (2) 7/8" ID bores opposite each other. UL/CSA.

The four positions on this 2" x 1-5/16" x 7/8" rotary switch represent the four seasons of the year. The spring position turns on terminals 1 and 5. The summer position turns on all of the terminals. The fall position turns on terminals 2,3,5 and 6. On the winter setting, the time of year when all is quiet and dead, none of the terminals are turned on. All of the terminals have spade connectors and terminals 2 and 3 are joined. The switch has a 7/8" x 1/4" dia. fluted shaft and is mountable via. (2) threaded holes on the face plate. 25 amp at 125 VAC max.

Just like your love life?? This switch turns between on and off when the 1/4" dia x 7/8" long shaft is rotated 90°. Rated 120 VAC, 10 amps, it is 1-1/2" x 1" x 1" deep. (2) threaded mounting holes on the face plate and (2) spade connectors complete the picture.

One of our truly unusual treasures. It's a used 28 VDC single-pole/single-throw toggle switch, possibly military surplus. A sensor mounted on it is labeled Oxygen Warning Switch. We think that means that it switches off in the presence of pure oxygen, the better to keep from blowing something to kingdom come with an errant spark. Overall, it's 3-1/2" x 1-1/2" x 1", not counting the 3/4" toggle. The 3-pole sensor itself is under a black-painted aluminum cover 1-1/2" high x 7/8" dia. (3) leads, (3) holes in its right-angle mounting bracket. We're just not sure what it is that would be blown up if it weren't there.

The correct answer is "I don't know; I've never toggled." If, however, you just want to turn something on and off, here's a choice of toggles for your switching delectation. The DPDT toggle is rated for up to 20A at 125VAC and has screw terminals below. Measures 1-1/4" x 1-3/4". No center-off position. The first DPST toggle is rated for 20A at 125VAC or 15A at 250VAC. Screw terminals on the bottom. Measures 1-5/16" x 3/4". The smaller DPST toggle is rated for up to 4A at 125VAC or 2A at 250VAC. Has 3/16" spade terminals on the bottom and measures 1" X 9/16". All the toggles come with switch-plates and mounting nuts.

Tied together are (2) 15A @ 250 VAC breakers that trip on 18.8A and (1) breaker that trips on 10 VDC One of the (2) 15A @ 250 VAC breakers has an integral NO/NC microswitch arranged so that when the breaker trips, it is too, which could be useful to trigger an alarm or warning light. Although mechanically ganged, the breakers are electrically independent. You can ignore the load breaker and use the other two or even just the one with the integral alarm circuit.

It's special. Our 4-1/2" x 2-3/4" white-plastic switch plate has a generous 2-5/8" x 1-5/16" center cutout and fits a wide, push-type rocker switch rather than a standard toggle. Includes mounting screws.

Tiny, even. This PC mount microswitch is just 5/16" x 1/8" x 9/32". NO/NC. The push-button travels 1/16". Testing reports that it may actually be a small limit switch. Momentary. Great for model railroads! Made by Omron, labeled D2A.
