Tootin' Our Laser
We don't like to brag, but it's tough not to in a case like this. This is a wonderful pen-shaped laser pointer, 5-1/4" long, flat black or silver with gold pocket clip and head. It throws a red point a loong way (we've thrown it two city blocks at night, and it would've gone farther, but buildings got in the way). And what are we so proud of? We've seen a very similar item-not identical, mind you, but essentially the same-in one of those glossy, toys-for-grown-men catalogs. Their price? $20! We're proud not to be profit-mongers, buy it here and you can take pride in your smart shopping habits. Batteries included.

Or the light will come on! Now your hallways at home can be just like a European hotel with our motion-sensitive LED light. No plug necessary, since it runs on (3) "AA" batteries (not included because we can't do everything, after all). Mounts via a 1/4" keyed screw hole, but double-sided tape would also work. Measures 2-3/8" sq x 1-1/2" thick and has (10) white LEDs in a white plastic housing. Lights up with motion approx 4 feet away.

Return with us now to the days of the unglazed white ceramic lamp socket. Not just retro and mega-sturdy, but nice enough to leave exposed as a wall fixture for an industrial-chic look. This is a medium base (standard light bulb) socket, 2-3/8" dia with (2) countersunk 3/16" dia mounting holes and a top that unscrews to access the wiring. It includes a pre-wired 6-foot cord and plug (yours may be white or brown) and may or may not have a removable plastic ring on the bottom half. 100W max. UL.

Get Hooked Up!
Just plug this set of 2-contact flat molded connectors into each other. (Each one has both a male and a female port.) Yes, they're on opposite ends of 10" long red and black, 16-2 AWG leads, but that's just a device to keep them together. When you're ready to hook them up, just clip those leads and get each end wired. You'll get a pack of (2) complete sets, perfect for hobbyists, tinkerers, and electronic DIYers.

A Little Lightning
Despite parental advice, here's a good reason to sit in in a dark room and think small. This Plasma Storm isn't as large as a standard plasma ball, so not only is it much more affordable -- the effect is concentrated and startling. The black plastic base has a switch. Turn it on at which point the 3" dia plastic globe (think baseball size) is filled with blue stems that flare to pink, looking like dozens of electric flowers searching for a way out. Very cool. Comes with a 6-ft power cord with transformer.

When your mom's in the room, it's just a plain, white 8" dia frosted plastic globe, but turn it on when she leaves and watch the red, green and blue LEDs inside glow as they rotate through a motorized diffuser lens. Has (4) different modes. It's called the Supernova Globe, and the manufacturer assures us that the ever-evolving colors and configurations create a calming atmosphere, and who doesn't need that? Makes a particularly trippy night light.

Tiny Table Lamp
On tiny tables or the desktop, this lamp throws a nice puddle of light for its size. The 4-1/4" x 3" x 1-1/2" tall base supports an 8" long gooseneck with (14) bright white LEDs at the top. Silver-plastic and chrome, with a pushbutton switch on the base, it comes with (3) "AAA" batteries. We're putting ours on top of the dresser so maybe we'll finally be able to tell what color socks we're taking out of the top drawer, but it would make a nice little reading or camping lamp. Should give 15 hours of light with fresh batteries.

Switched Fuse Panel
This pristine new take-out fused panel from a film projector (remember them?) has a DPST rocker switch and an IEC input plug that feeds a 3A fused line and an 8A line that leads to a load-protected relay. Panel measures 4-3/8" x 5-1/8" overall and needs 4" clearance in back. Made in the USA.
