Brought to you by our portable plasma device. The 2-3/4" dia flat disc has a full-on mode or will pulsate to the beat of the music with red, blue and green lightning streaks, but the sensitive sound sensor also produces great results when you talk near it. The disc sits on a 2-1/4" x 1-3/4" x 5/8" thick case with a belt clip, or could be hung on a neck lanyard. (The lightning will also follow your fingertip if you touch it!) Call it a disco-must (the darker the room the better) or just wear it any time you feel like pulsating. What powers this bad boy? The (2) "AAA" batteries that you provide.

Light emitting diodes. Solid state devices that provide the ubiquitous power and indicator lights on your electronic gadgetry. Unlike lamps, there are no filaments that glow. Rather, some two volts of DC power at a miniscule 10 to 20 milliamps of current get the chemistry excited, and they just plain emit. Emit is a good word, too, as they don't really cast light, but glow brightly. We have a nice assortment of 3 and 5 MM diameter sizes in red, green, orange, and yellow. The longer lead is always positive, the shorter always negative, and you always need a current limiting resistor (about 500 to 1,000 ohms for 5 to 9 volt DC sources) to keep the current in the 10-20 MA range. If that's Greek to you you're either going to blow a lot of LED's or learn to change incandescent indicator lamps ! !

Tired of wimpy little lightbulbs? Our bigger bulb is an 8-1/2" tall lightbulb-shaped light fixture over a replaceable 6V Krypton flashlight bulb. The base, with its socket, is 4-1/4" dia in silver plastic with (3) mounting holes. Uses (4) "AA" batteries, not included, and you turn it on by pulling the string or pushing the big bulb. Will also stand upright as a lamp, and would make a nice mad-inventor/bright-idea costume addition.

A cardinal after a gang fight. Also our blue-barreled, black-ink ballpoint pen with the red laser pointer built into the top. Measures 5-1/4" long and comes with (3) button cell batteries. Why the cheap price? These have logo misprints on the barrel. Don't stand up in the front of the room without it.

This staggeringly vivid night-sky projector features green, laser-beamed moving stars and cloud cover and, according to Paul (our in-house astro-galactic display maven), "adjustable-intensity nebula." If that means you can lie supine and happily stare at it for a few hours, we agree, particularly if you cue up the Dark Side of the Moon album at the same time. Or skip the Pink Floyd, and use it to lull the children to sleep. Not an astronomically accurate sky, of course, but you're definitely not going to care. The unit is approx 11" tall on a 9-1/2" x 8-3/8" oval base and plugs in via a wall adapter. The manufacturer suggests a maximum 4-hour duty cycle, white or light walls and a very dark room. Has mounting slots on the base.

What's the opposite of frenetic? This tabletop lamp. The egg shape is soothing, the smooth surface is frosted, and the egg slooowly changes from pale yellow to pale green to pale pink to pale blue.... The open end of the 8-1/2" x 6-1/4" dia glass egg rests in a brushed aluminum base that houses a 10 watt halogen bulb and a motorized color wheel. It's 12-1/2" tall OA. The 6-ft power cord has an in-line switch and terminates in a plug-in wall adapter. Why pay $25. or $30. when you can buy surplus and save money? Now that's soothing....
