Create some good, but very small, vibes with this micro-motor, born to vibrate a cell phone. Draws approx 50mA between 1.5 and 3VDC and measures a miniscule 3/16" sq x 5/8" long, including the 3/16" x 5/32" dia cam on the 0.5mm dia shaft. Spins approx 5,000 rpm. It has a pair of tiny terminals on the back, and the cam can be removed (not easily) in case you want to power a life-size robotic bumblebee. You'll get a pair.

This big 24 VDC German-made centrifugal fan from EBM-PAPST, originally an industrial exhaust fan, measures 9-1/2" dia x 3-3/8" thick with the motor housing protruding 7/16" from the bottom. It has (4) threaded 3/16" mounting holes, an impeller with (11) backward-curved blades, and a 22" 4-lead cable for power. From Germany's Faulhaber, this 12VDC precision motor draws only 75mA no load, and has 1.9 in/oz of torque. Spins 8100 rpm. The motor measures 7/8" dia x 1-5/8" long with a 3/8" long x 1/16" dia shaft out the back and an 18-tooth, 5/16" dia sprocket on the front. There are bearings on both ends of the shaft. It's inside a 1-3/16" plastic frame the length of the motor with (4) 3/32" dia mounting holes. Works well from 3-12VDC, our motor-minded technician says, plus it's "OK for short term use up to 24VDC, and makes a pretty nice little generator, too." Has (2) 3-1/2" leads.

And this little 6-12VDC new gear motor is a stunner. Made for a telescope drive, it draws approx 100mA and spins approx 5 rpm at 12VDC. Has a 5/16" dia, 16-tooth sprocket on a 5/8" long shaft and is 2-7/16" x 1-7/8" x 2-5/8" OA. The gearbox ratio is approx 100:1. Slightly larger than some of our hobby motors, this Mabuchi RS-365SH double-shaft motor is a good choice for science-fair projects. Its range is 6 VDC, 50 mA, 550 rpm to 24 VDC, 80 mA, 2,000 rpm. The 3/32" dia shaft extends 5/8" from the terminal end of the 1-1/2" x 1-1/16" dia motor, and 3/8" from the other end. It has (2) 5" leads.
