This 1/50 HP, 115VAC motor draws 800mA and spins CCW at 3000 rpm. (We're thinking exhaust fan.) The black steel housing measures 3-3/4" x 3-1/4" dia with a 7/16" long threaded shaft (5/32"-32). It has a 26" power cord, and a pair of 2-9/16" long threaded mounting bolts on the face. Made in the USA.

Manny Moto's kid brother? Not at this price. This little hobby motor runs on 1-1/2 to 3VDC and draws approx 400mA while spinning between 700 and 1400 rpm. Hobby size, too: 1-1/8" x 3/4" with a 5/16" long shaft. Dandy for solar-power experiments, our motor maven says.

This 230VAC Molon gear motor spins 45 rpm, draws 340mA, no load, and stalls 450mA. Turns CCW with 7in/lb of torque. The motor side of the shaft is 3/16" dia x 3/4" long with a plastic 4-blade fan. The gearbox output is a 1/4" dia x 5/8" long flattened shaft with a cotter pin hole. Unit is 4-1/2" x 2-3/4" x 4-1/2" OA. Thermally protected, and made in the USA.

A Nice squirrel cage blower. Datech blowers have thermister-based control circuits that run the fan faster as the unit heats up, clever things. The P1091 is rated at 12VDC 2.3A and is mounted on a 3-7/16" heat sink with fins and (2) condenser coils. Designed to be mounted on your main computer chip for cooling. The blower outlet is 3-9/16" x 1" and the housing measures 5-3/8" x 3-5/8" x 1-1/4". Maximum output is approx 27CFM.

These are really geared reduction motors, but much smaller and of lower power. Often used to operate cams and switches in electrical circuits, or to drive displays, they can generally be operated in continuous applications if not heavily loaded. Most are about 2" dia. x 1-1/2" thick. Remember CW means “Clockwise” and CCW “Counter–clockwise,” looking at the shaft.

And even more fan blades. Choose a white-plastic 5-blade or a black-plastic 4-blade, each approx 4" across with a 3/16" bore. Designed for clockwise rotation. No motor. Just blades. (But nice little blades.)

Clone motors –– almost. The 24 VDC Hitachi stepper motors (both of which are labeled with Kodak’s part number 315871) are almost identical. Each has 1:5 gearboxes, (3) Hall–effect sensors, and 12 steps per revolution (without the gearbox). The motor cases are 1–3/4” thick x 3–5/8” dia. The 2–1/2” sq x 15/16” thick gearboxes terminate in 1” x 3/8” dia flattened shafts with mounted plastic cams. Each has a set of (7) and a set of (3) leads with Molex–type connectors. The only difference between the takeout motors is that one draws 3 amps, and the other draws 2.4 amps. Sorry, folks, that’s all we know.

So build your own (see "Motors"). Our white-plastic 4-blade fan (blade only) is 6" dia OA, with a 2" dia x 7/8" thick hub with a 3/16" bore. Made for a clockwise rotation. Not pristine, but not used, either. Made in the USA.

This heat-dispersing device that used to live in a computer has a removable 12VDC 450mA Nidec muffin fan-2-3/4 square x 9/16" with power and tach leads and four mounting screws at the corners. This is attached to a 3-1/4" x 2-3/4" x 1-5/8" aluminum box and grill, open on three sides, and a copper heat sink that's 3-1/4" x 2-3/4" x approx 1/4" thick. The whole shebang is held in a plastic bracket with a swing-out handle, ready to disperse some heat.

Nice black plastic fan blade; looks much more menacing than it is. 1-5/8" dia x 3/4" thick. 8 blades, each 1/4" wide, in a twisting pattern. Takes a 1/16" shaft; (2) 1/4" dia holes on either side of the shaft hole. Gives a squirrel type effect, unless you put it in a housing. We'd also like to see this as a deep-mud tire for a model vehicle.
