Puddle Paddler
Build a motorized mini-paddle-wheeler. This kit includes all the parts you need to made a double-side-wheeler in plastic, measuring 7-1/4" long x 3-1/4" wide x 1-1/2" from keel to gunwales. Paddles are 2-1/2" dia. Includes a rudder, a small battery-operated motor to turn the paddles, wiring and instructions. You add a few simple tools and pair of "AA" batteries.

Robot Rover Kit

We think of this as the intro-to-robotics kit. Along with a lavishly illustrated 32-page history of robots are the parts, instructions and "AAA" battery needed to assemble a working, lunaresque, cardboard robot (with plastic gears and axles). The completed rover is 10-1/2" x 7" x 3" with a 3-3/4" rotating mast. The robot, we admit, may be more fragile than agile, but this is intended to be a learning experience, luring "young and inquiring inventors" into the world of robotics - and AS&S.

A Drive Train From Scratch
Build your own. This is a very nice kit from Tamiya, but not for beginners or the fumble-fingered, since it’s fairly complex and can take a couple hours to assemble. The Twin Gear Motor Kit has a pair of 2.3VDC motors that draw approx 60mA no load, stall at 130mA, and will run 60 to 212 rpm. Finished size is approx 3" long x 2" x 7/8" with dual 1-1/16" long x 1/8” dia hexagonal shafts.
