Four kits from ScienceWiz™, all by Berkeley science-education whiz Penny Norman, Ph.D. The Magnetism kit features (22) activities and includes small magnets, iron filings, compass, and a small rubber duck! The Light kit has (25) projects, including a kaleidoscope, microscope and more. The Chemistry kit has (35) projects, and you get vials of sand and baking soda, pipets, test tubes, and a lot more. The Electricity kit has (18) projects, and comes with a motor, buzzer, LED and much more. You add some household items, and a "D" battery to all except the Chemistry kit. This excellent educational kit from Elenco comes with (9) 0.5VDC solar cells pre-wired in sets of (3) and mounted in a 5" x 4" x 7/16" black-plastic frame with screw terminals on the bottom. The kit includes a 1.5VDC motor with leads and a mount, a fan blade and (4) plastic discs from 5/8" dia to 2" dia for mounting on the motor shaft, a 1.5V incandescent bulb with leads, a sound module with leads, and graphic cards to mount on the discs. Comes with a 14-page instruction/experiment booklet, including info on increasing voltage and amperage, powering battery charges, radios, games, etc. Lots of science project potential. Physics faculty alert: It's very small, but teaches a powerful lesson, this little diamagnetic-properties demo kit. DIY Piñata

Half the party's in the prep! Plan your menu, bake the cake, and build your own dinosaur or pig piñata! Each kit comes with balloons to use as a frame, cardboard pattern pieces, colored tissue paper, stickers, some shredded filler paper, white glue, paints, a brush, and a cord to hang the piñata with. You provide the goodies to fill it, but the green dinosaur has (3) small rubber dinosaurs and the pink pig has (3) little rubber pigs for a bit of added fun. Finished piñata should be about 2 feet long. For kids eight and up with some adult help, or a little younger with mucho adult help.
