Beauty Of A Stirling Engine
Use this little stainless beauty to teach teenagers and older students how heat engines work Then keep it on your desk, where you deserve to have it! This low-temperature-differential Stirling engine is beautifully machined. It works with hot water, ice water, a combination of hot water with ice cubes, or a hair dryer. It measures 5-3/4" tall with a 3-5/8" dia flywheel and a 3-1/2" dia x 7/8" tall base. The speed with hot water is approx 150 rpm. This is a real showpiece, the best we've ever seen at this price. Includes a 7-page instruction booklet.

Presenting the little metal-detecting robot that you build from a Kidz Labs® kit. We've named him Metallicus. You push a button and he rolls around, beeping when he passes over buried treasure. When he gets tired, just remove the small hand-held metal detector and go detecting on your own. Assembled, Metallicus measures 3-3/4" tall x 5-3/8" long x 3-1/8" wide with a small DC motor/gear drive and a hard-wired remote with a forward/reverse switch. Comes with (3) button cell batteries for the detector, but you add a single "AA" for the bot. For kids over 8.

The Mohs Kit is a mineral hardness scale set, with (9) specimens: gypsum, talc, calcite, fluorite, apatite, orthoclase, quartz, topaz and corundum. The Mineral Kit has (15) specimens: fluorite, microline, feldspar, hematite, pyrite, calcite, magnetite, talc, pyrolusite, graphite, milky quartz, mica, satin spar, selenite and alabaster gypsum. The Rock Kit has (15) specimens, (5) each of igneous, sedimentary, metamorphic rock types. All kits include a small magnifier, tray and instruction pamphlet. Mix the solution in a jar of water, drop in the pebbles, and watch them grow into a forest of multi-color stalagmites. Sunprints (or cyanotypes, or photograms) are everyone's favorite photo-sensitivity experiment, from third-graders to graphic artists and fine artists. You pick: The Sunprinters are a dozen 3-15/16" square sheets of photosensitive paper, an acrylic backing sheet and instructions. The large Sunprint Kit has (15) sheets of 12" x 7-3/4" photosensitive paper plus a clear acrylic sheet of the same size. Great for classroom demonstrations, and can be used to make prints from photo negatives as well as interesting effects from opaque or translucent objects. All you add is sunshine and water.
