Bone Up On Anatomy
You're not going to blow money on an actual human skeleton, are you? Consider that for a tenth of the price you can get an anatomically accurate skeleton done in plastic. This model is male (judging by the hips) and has many articulated joints-jaw, shoulder, knee, etc. Its small size (33") makes it practical for classroom use, since it can be passed around the room. Other nice touches include discrete neck vertebrae, a sectioned skull, and very little "flash" from the plastic molds. It also comes with a metal display stand, weighted at the bottom to prevent spills. Yes, some concessions had to be made because of the size and price, but this is still an invaluable teaching tool, and quite a nice decoration for those with morbid minds.

Ready Or Not Skeleton
This skeleton is actually used in medical and other schools for teaching. The bones are plastic, but other than that it's as realistic and anatomically correct as they come. The ready-to-use skeleton is mounted with a 360° swivel at the pelvis from a heavy-duty metal rod on a stand base with castors. It has a skull with a removable section, hinged jaw and (2) removable teeth; plastic zippered dust cover; and stainless steel wire, brackets and wing nut assembly for long life. It's articulated at all joints except the spine, so you can demonstrate flexion/extension, or merely pose it in a debonair posture. Size: 5' 6" tall. Weight: 23 lbs

Lay Siege To The Doghouse!

Right after you build your own working medieval catapult or trebuchet. All you'll need is glue, scissors and a steady hand (plus a small bag of marbles or rocks or something as a counterweight for the trebuchet) to construct these wooden, Canadian-made siege engine kits. The catapult stands 6" tall x 5" wide x 10" long and will toss assorted stuff 15 feet or farther, depending upon the stuff. The finished trebuchet will be 26" long x 18" wide x 24" tall and will propel small objects (meatballs?) 20 feet or more. Both include detailed instructions. Note: Please don't propel small mammals, and please don't put anyone's eye out.

Puddle Paddler
Build a motorized mini-paddle-wheeler. This kit includes all the parts you need to made a double-side-wheeler in plastic, measuring 7-1/4" long x 3-1/4" wide x 1-1/2" from keel to gunwales. Snap-together building blocks? Those are for cowards. We spit on those. Tough kids use Mini Bricks, monument kits that come with teensy faux-stone textured plastic blocks (1/4” cubes or 1/4” x 1/4” x 1/2", among others), mortar, a mixing tub and a very, very small trowel. The Statue of Liberty has 132 pieces, instructions, and a mounting base. (You don’t build Lady Liberty. She’s in faux-copper, 3” tall; you build the base.) Suitable for kids with small-motor skills and patience. Neatness counts.
