From Engino®. You pick between their Screws & Worm Drives or Cams & Cranks construction sets. The first has plastic parts to build a revolving crane, lifting arm crane, vise or scissors lift. The latter lets you build working models of a fishing crane, pumpjack, sewing machine, a moving human figure or (oddly) a flying eagle. Both have 36-page full-color manuals plus a booklet of diagrams. Made in Cyprus, so the books are British English, but quite understandable, actually. All the parts mate with each other and any other Engino® model kit, so buy both and the possibilities are endless. For ages 6 to 14 and up.

It Was Oscillation, I Know…
Stop going around in circles and order this excellent chemistry kit with (6) different experiments (it would be silly to have 6 of the same experiment) based on the Briggs-Rauscher oscillating reaction. Comes with a starch solution, sodium iodate, malonic acid, sulfamic acid, manganese sulfate, sodium thiosulfate, mixing cups, a 90ml beaker, stir sticks, scoops and wooden rack, instructions and teacher's notes. You'll need hydrogen peroxide, a multimeter and a few household items. For ages 12 and up and not without supervision at that.

Triops: way cooler, bigger and more active than sea monkeys. They're dinosaur shrimp, leftovers from some 200 million years ago. Don't eat them; just grow them and enjoy this bizarre & ancient display of nature! In the kit you get a kidney-shaped tank 2-3/8" tall x 8-1/2"x 5-3/4", a very informative instruction booklet, and a packet full of triops eggs and food. In the starter pack/refill pack you get tripos eggs, food, conditioner and directions. Add the eggs to water and watch them go; they'll hatch in a day and reach 1" to 2" or more in a few weeks. Really easy to do, and really cool too.
