Rocks and Roll

Turn rocks into jewelry, a few pieces at a time. Our small Science Tech" Rock Tumbler (1lb capacity) plugs into the wall and rolls those rocks around until they're all shiny and beautiful. Includes coarse and fine grinding powders, fine and finer polishing powders, 4 oz of practice gemstone rocks, glue, and mounting hardware to make a keychain, adjustable rings, earrings and other items. Can be set to turn from (1) to (7) days (rocks are hard, which is why they're called rocks). Measures approx 9" x 11" x 6" high overall, including the plastic dome to reduce the sound of the operation. For 10-year-olds and up.

World's Smallest Terrariums
Terraria? You decide. Then you pick a 2-1/2” tall plastic egg-shaped terrarium filled with “sprouting mixture” and the seeds for either a eucalyptus plant, an asparagus fern or an insect-eating hooded pitcher plant. Each sprouts in a week or two on a southern or eastern-facing windowsill and then can be moved into a larger terrarium, we’re assured.

Volcanic Popcorn Specimen
Volcanologists call these popcorn hyalite bombs because they're globs of molten lava that were spit out of vents on a volcanic cinder cone, flew through the air expanding (like popcorn), and came to rest as glass-rich pieces of hyalite. These are from Echo Mountain in the Medicine Lake Highlands of northern California, and yours will be approx 3-1/2" dia, give or take, since volcanoes won't spit to order.

The Driest Rocks On Earth
