Good price on this good quality, 20X student model stereo microscope with dual 10X eyepieces for a stereoscopic view. Has a 2-1/2" to 3-7/8" working distance, an LED illuminator powered by (2) "AA" batteries (included), and a black/white stage plate with aluminum clips. Eyepieces are also adjustable. Stands 10-1/2" tall and comes with a dust cover.

Professional quality at a student price, it has turret-mounted achromatic objectives, fine and coarse rack-and-pinion focus and substage diaphragm light control, and a metal frame. It is built to international DIN standards and accepts all DIN eyepieces and objectives. With extras like focus stop for slide protection, adjustable tilt and (2) spring clips, it is a fine instrument for most home science work. The kids need presents for all the grandmas and great-aunts? You volunteer at the nursing home and need token gifts for your L-O-Ls? And your eyes aren't so good, either? Our each is really half a dozen pretty little magnifiers with round lenses and fancy handles. The handles are silver-bright (hard to believe they're aluminum) and all different. Each has a discreet hole in the tip for a jump ring so it could be worn on a necklace -- but it would look just as pretty on a desk. The overall length of the (6) magnifiers varies from about 3-3/4" to 5", the lenses from 1-1/4" to 1-3/4" dia. All are approx 2X magnification. Mary Ann's pick of the month.

Micro-Microscope
Two versions of teeny-weeny-tiny microscopes. Cute, but not toys. Both deliver 45X in a miniscule body with a 1/4” eyepiece. The non-illuminated version is 1-3/8” tall x 9/16” dia. The UV-illuminated version is 1-1/2" long x 1/2" dia with a swiveling, removable 1" long x 1/2" dia dual-LED ultraviolet light (dandy for checking IDs) attached to its side. Powered by a trio of button-cell batteries that are included. Both scopes come in equally teeny black fake leatherette-like pouches.

Front-Surface & Ready To Mount
This 7-5/8" x 6-1/8" front-surface mirror has 1/2" wide black metal side strips, each with (4) 1/4" dia holes for mounting. (Flip it over and it's a regular back-surface mirror, which makes sense, but isn't always available as an option.) The front has some clean-off-able adhesive on the edges from a previous life, but be careful-FS mirrors are easy to scratch and should be cleaned with microfiber and/or compressed air.

When you peer through your magnifying glass at this specimen, or focus your microscope on it, even at the lower magnifications which work best, you're looking at one big bug. Make that (4) big bugs. The insects are real, encased in clear acrylic blocks 1-3/4" x 1-1/4" x up to 11/16" thick, and ready for inspection. Set 1 includes a scorpion, giant ant, wasp and a flower bug. Set 2 is a cricket, locust, yellow leaf beetle, and crab. No, not a crab louse or a crab spider, but definitely a crab ugly….

Forget watchmaking, you could write the "A Tale of Two Cities" on a piece of tortellini with this triple magnifier visor. Magnifies from 1.8X to 4.8X. Has a permanent 2.2X lens, a flip-down lens, and a flip-down loupe. Separate white LEDs at each temple, powered by (2) "AAA"s each which aren't included. The whole thing is in a black plastic visor, 7-3/4" wide x 5-1/4" deep with a flexible plastic strap held by a hook-and-loop closure. Opens to 9" max dia and has coated acrylic lenses. Now then: It was the best of times, it was the worst of times….

The Paragon
...is an inspection and dissection binocular microscope. The manufacturer says it's "perfect for industrial, agricultural, biological and educational uses." We heartily concur, which is why we're stocking this shiny new non-surplus item. "The Paragon" is 15" high, sturdy, easy to use, and has an acid and reagent resistant finish. At 10X and 30X magnification it's not for the weensiest microbes, of course, but if your work is on the scale of distinguishing weevil species, this is what you want. The 95mm dia stage plate reverses white to black for contrast, and the rack and pinion pole mount lets you view samples up to 17 cm in height. The binocular head is inclined for comfortable viewing, rotates 360°, Wide field 10X eyepieces adjust to 55 -75mm interpupillary distance. 1X and 3X objectives are turret-mounted. With the 1X objective, you get a 19mm field of view, with the 3X, a 9.5mm field. In either case the working distance is 95mm. Don't do entomology without it.

Magnificent magnifier lamp! Great for hobby work, stamp or coin collecting, needlepoint, sewing and crafts, even reading if your eyes are "mature". The plastic "head" assembly has a 3.5" dia, 3 diopter magnifying lens and a socket with switch for an incandescent lamp (60 Watt max.) This is mounted on the end of an arm the other end of which clamps to the table top. The arm has (2) roughly 15" long sections and swivels at the clamp to allow precise positioning over your work. Plugs into any wall socket. Basic black or white, it is a brand new good quality item that you will find so useful you will wonder how you got along without it!
