It's a beauty. Clear acrylic, rimless, 3-1/2" dia with an inset 3/4" dia lens. The lenses are 2X and 8X respectively (ignore the 3X and 12X on the box) and mounted on a 7" long gooseneck. On the other end of the gooseneck is a heavy-duty black spring clamp with 1-1/2" jaws. Both ends are removable with a Phillips screwdriver, if you're one of those folks who like to modify things and make new things from parts of other things.

Check out this standard mirror that reverses to a first-surface mirror covered by a piece of protective film. The first-surface side is great for use with lasers. It's 1/8" thick and 8" long. And? And it tapers from 5-1/4" wide at one end to 5" at the other. If anyone asks, just tell him he's hallucinating.

A magnifier so big it made us wish there were someone around here with a clue. The 5" dia lens says 2.5X but is more like 1.5X. It's just over 10" long OA, in a sturdy plastic frame with a contoured rubber grip, an acrylic lens, and a mysteriously low price.

The wave of the future. Create your own ISP or long-distance phone company. The plastic fiber-optic cables are clear, 1/32" dia single strand. Unjacketed is IFC-U1000, 1000nM. Jacketed cables are encased by black plastic, 1/16" OD, IFC-E1000, 1000nM. What do modelers do with it? A recent magazine on model railroading showed how to build a lighted marquee using fiber optics. Pretty neat!! The big boys get $1.60 to $1.90/per foot for this stuff!! All fiber optics sold in 10-ft lengths. Extremely neat!!

Nice little cubic beamsplitter prism. (Get it?) 12 x 11 x 10mm, it's painted black on (3) sides. Low transmission-about 70/30 or 80/20-but it'll be fine for classroom demos, experimentation, or perhaps souping up your fancy laser device.

…with this clear-acrylic triangular prism, 25mm x 50mm long (1" x 1-15/16"). Perfect for light refraction lessons--especially for younger kids, since the plastic won't chip like glass will--and for showing how Sir Isaac figured out rainbows way ahead of all the other kids.
