Read 'Em without Weeping
When you need that print to be just a tad bigger and brighter, whip out your light-up, fold-out acrylic bar magnifier. The 4" long x 1-1/8" wide x 5/8" thick convex bar swings out of a 5" long black plastic case, lies flat, and magnifies approx 2X. Runs on 2 "AAA" batteries (not included) and is lit by a replaceable flashlight bulb (included). Just the right size, by the way, for a column of newsprint.

This big, Sherlockian 1.5X acrylic magnifier is only 5-1/2" across when folded in on itself, so you can carry it around and solve mysteries. Unfold the handle and it's 9-7/8" long with a 3-7/8" dia lens housing. In tough black plastic.

Protective Lens
One of those clear plastic jobs that goes over an automotive light or some such. It provides a bit of focusing to strengthen the beam and some protection, but isn't really an optical element. This one is 2-7/8" sq. x 9/16" thick. Actually, the plastic is only about 1/8" thick, but there is a rim to the rear which gives it overall depth. Good protection for outdoor lights. Could be set in the outhouse door to admit distorted light. Or flip it over and serve nuts in it.

All The World's A Stage
...and we are merely microscopes? Develop your own (better) metaphor with this solid black plastic microscope stage, 5" x 4", another fine product from the old Soviet Union. With a 1-7/32" dia hole in the center and a threaded 1/8" dia hole straight through, and (4) threaded holes (Also 1/8" dia) on the underside for mounting the iris and condenser assembly.

Fiber Optic Cable
If far-flung fiber optics are in your future, consider our 30-ft section of F/O data transmission cable. Each side of the blue-jacketed (or maybe green-jacketed) dual cable is 3/16" wide, insulated, and holds approx (20) very fine fiber optic strands. Not good for light transmission. Labeled OFNP.

The Paragon
...is an inspection and dissection binocular microscope. The manufacturer says it's "perfect for industrial, agricultural, biological and educational uses." We heartily concur, which is why we're stocking this shiny new non-surplus item. "The Paragon" is 15" high, sturdy, easy to use, and has an acid and reagent resistant finish. At 10X and 30X magnification it's not for the weensiest microbes, of course, but if your work is on the scale of distinguishing weevil species, this is what you want. The 95mm dia stage plate reverses white to black for contrast, and the rack and pinion pole mount lets you view samples up to 17 cm in height. The binocular head is inclined for comfortable viewing, rotates 360°, Wide field 10X eyepieces adjust to 55 -75mm interpupillary distance. 1X and 3X objectives are turret-mounted. With the 1X objective, you get a 19mm field of view, with the 3X, a 9.5mm field. In either case the working distance is 95mm. Don't do entomology without it.
