Tryptic Soy Agar
Agar, it's not just a crossword puzzle answer. It's the medium of choice for growing bacteria, molds, etc., and just what you need if you're shopping for laboratory staples or for your next science-fair project. Melt the medium in a microwave, pour into a Petri dish, and allow to set before applying test material. Do not freeze, and after exposure or melting, store at the temperature on the label. Does approx. 10-12 petri dishes.

Care To Mix It Up?
Our magnetic mixer is made for use in a laboratory, but could also be handy if you like your martinis stirred, not shaken, and your arm is tired after a long day at the lab. The unit is 4-3/4" square x 1-7/8" thick (you top it with the appropriate beaker), and stir speed is adjustable from 100 to 1,000 rpm. Capacity is 1 liter and the stir bar is included with the unit. Small, Two-Way Thermometer
On a slightly convex aluminum plate, with small mounting holes top and bottom. Our glass alcohol thermometer measures between -30° and 230°F in 2° increments and between -30° and 110°C in 1° increments. The unit measures 6-1/2" x 1-1/16" with a 4-3/4" long element. Made for the laboratory, but nicely readable and able to hang on your wall without looking like part of a weather station.

Probe Something Hot
With a good-quality digital probe thermometer from Sper Scientific. Measures -50° to 200°C and -58° to 392°F in 0.1 degree increments. The red-plastic case measures 3-3/8" x 1" x 9/16" with a 3-1/2" long pointed metal probe. The LCD readout is 1-1/4" x 1/2" and the unit comes with a replaceable button cell battery and a click-on probe cover. Has min/max, temperature hold, and last-reading functions, and the probe (but not the LCD) is submersible.

Think cork borers for all those solid corks and rubber stoppers in laboratories, the ones that need holes for glass and rubber tubing. Our each is a set of (3) 3-3/4" long brass tubes with sharpened ends and red-plastic T-handles. Diameters are 9/32", 7/32" and 5/32". They're nested on the 4-3/4" pin used to clear the plug from the tube.
