The box says it's a crème brûlée kit, but we've tossed the expired crème, and kept the best part of the kit -- (4) 4-1/4" dia ramekins, and the small, self-standing propane torch that's worth the price all by itself. Make your own crème, charge up the butane torch, and you're a French-dessert-servin', sugar-meltin' fool. Please note the catalog mentions propane. It is a butane torch that requires a refill with a standard butane refill can available at most drug stores.

Tiny Table Lamp
On tiny tables or the desktop, this lamp throws a nice puddle of light for its size. The 4-1/4" x 3" x 1-1/2" tall base supports an 8" long gooseneck with (14) bright white LEDs at the top. Silver-plastic and chrome, with a pushbutton switch on the base, it comes with (3) "AAA" batteries. We're putting ours on top of the dresser so maybe we'll finally be able to tell what color socks we're taking out of the top drawer, but it would make a nice little reading or camping lamp. Should give 15 hours of light with fresh batteries.

Because opposite surfaces of the vanes are black and white, incident radiant energy is absorbed or reflected to a different degree. The result is a spinning vane. The brighter the light, the faster it spins. Simple, but compelling. Brief explanatory instruction sheet included.

Tootin' Our Laser
We don't like to brag, but it's tough not to in a case like this. This is a wonderful pen-shaped laser pointer, 5-1/4" long, flat black or silver with gold pocket clip and head. It throws a red point a loong way (we've thrown it two city blocks at night, and it would've gone farther, but buildings got in the way). And what are we so proud of? We've seen a very similar item-not identical, mind you, but essentially the same-in one of those glossy, toys-for-grown-men catalogs. Their price? $40! We're proud not to be profit-mongers, buy it here and you can take pride in your smart shopping habits. Batteries included. (Please note color change to include silver.)

Keep leaves, twigs, gloop and critters out of your downspouts with "The Wedge," a neat little green plastic grill contraption that sits out of sight at the end of the gutters, and screens spout-blocking stuff while letting the water through. You get (2), each measuring approx 9" long x 3-3/8" tall at the top of the wedge. A 1-1/4" cylinder on the bottom fits into the downspout, and a fold-down handle allows easy removal.
