Dancing Colors

Critters Crossing
Everyone needs a "Mosquito Crossing" sign at the summer cottage. If you own a formal wear shop or a wedding chapel, you really need the "Penguin Crossing" sign. Taverns everywhere should warn patrons about inattentive jackalopes, and actual dairy farmers might have a genuine, non-cute, need for the "Cow Crossing" version. These are all well-made 12" square indoor/outdoor metal signs, painted standard traffic yellow with a black border and realistic animal graphics. Each hangs diagonally from a pre-drilled 1/4" hole.

It's 44-1/2" tall x 5-14" wide x 1/4" thick (and folds in half for storage) with a decorative three-dimensional group of toys and animals near the top. We feel it is time to share and have elected Barry to the post because he just walked by the vast editorial department here at A.S.&S. (AKA "my desk") Our Jolly Barry flag is 3ft x 5 ft., black polyester with a reinforced edge containing grommets for flying. It has the traditional skull and crossbones in white with the added fillip that the skull is wearing an eye patch! Sail Away!!

Ear's An Idea
You understand why we had to buy this, right? A giant plastic human ear, a foot-and-half tall x almost a foot wide? We had no choice, really. And we think you don't either, because it's a GIANT PLASTIC EAR. It's made of thin plastic, like a 3" deep gelatin mold and, yes, of course you could make a huge gelatin dessert ear with it. Or hang it on a wall with a little tape or judicious ear piercing (no pun unintended) and some string, maybe cut out a space for the microphone on your front-door intercom and talk to the ear. Buy a bunch, sew them to a bed sheet and wear it as cape while you go around saying "I'm all ears." Grease the inside and make plaster of Paris ears to line your walls, tell people it's your listening room. Or just put it on the table, use the indentation to store your eye-Pod. Sadly, we have only left ears (the same one VanGogh cut off) but we've got an eye out for their mates.

Choo-Choo Chelves
…to meet your whimsical storage and display needs. These were part of a Lillian Vernon set of wall-hung shelves that included, we suspect, a locomotive, train cars and a caboose. We got the cars, and we think they're plenty whimsical all by their lonesome. Heavy duty (3/8" thick painted wood) with less than heavy-duty hooks, but you could replace those or screw them straight onto the walls. Our each is a pair. The open-top car is blue, yellow, black and white with a night sky above it, and measures 13-5/8" long x 12-3/4" high x 5" deep. The car with the top is in red, green, black, blue, yellow and white, with the same night sky. It measures 13-5/8" long x 12-1/4" high x 5" deep. Handy dads could buy a second pair, add a few wooden blocks and dowels plus a lick of paint and make an engine and caboose from the closed-top cars. Kiddles love it when their dads do that.

Framed
You got us. We're stuck with a pile of 5" x 10" wood frames and you're the winner. Line a hallway with the kiddies' 5" x 7" school photos. They have 1/2" x 1/2" sides with rounded fronts. No glass, backing or hardware just makes it easier to update your favorites. We don't know who to blame for this mountain of frames, but you can help. Frame someone now.

Simple Frame
Plain white plastic frames, 10-1/2" x 8-1/2" overall. Perfect for framing 8" x 10" photos. When we say plain, we mean it. No glass, no backing, no stand. The frame edges are 3/4" wide with a double bevel profile. A couple of tabs on the back help hold the picture. That's it folks. Just the basics. You get to paint 'em and adorn 'em to fit your decor.
