A big, sturdy olive-drab canvas pouch from Mil-Spec Plus" Enhanced Tactical Gear. Pouch is 17" x 9" x 2-1/2" with a hook-and-loop top closure, (2) sets of snap-shut straps and a few dozen slots for attaching more stuff. Comes with an 18" X 7", 100-ounce rubber bladder. Bladder has a 39" fabric-covered tube that will come out of either side and has a "delta bite valve" nozzle on the end. Manufacturer calls it a "universal component hydration carrier" and who would argue with that? New.

This two-piece bike safety light has a bright headlight, 4-1/2" x 2-3/8" x 1-5/8", and a 3-LED red taillight, 2-5/8" x 1-7/8" x 1-1/8", that will run steady-on, slow flash, or fast flash. Both will slide out of their handlebar mounts: the headlight becomes a mini-flashlight, and the tail light has a belt-clip for jogging visibility. You add (4) "AA" batteries for the front light and (2) for the taillight.

If we had a category just for customers who lust after Jules Verne inventions and elegant gadgetry, this would be in it. The wonderful brass sundial, a reproduction of an antique, is approx 3" dia x 11/16" thick overall, and actually works! A latitudinal gauge lets you tilt the engraved dial to the correct angle for your location, and a bubble and three leveling feet allow the 1-1/2" dia lock-down compass to point in the precise direction. And if you never took it out into the sunshine, you'd still love it for the look and logic of it.

21st Century Walking Stick
Walking sticks have moved into the space age! This walker's/hiker's friend has futuristic features and the look of an inter-galactic weapon. The high-quality collapsible aluminum stick extends from a packable 27" to a full 56", and has a carbide tip with a rubber cover, a removable 2" dia disk to keep the stick from sinking into soft ground, and an internal shock absorber that can be turned on or off. At the top, a 5-LED flashlight with a 90° pivot is embedded in a molded-plastic cane-style handle to light your way. For mountain trekking, lengthen the stick, slip the adjustable canvas wrist strap over your hand, and clutch the stick by the padded foam section below the cane handle. Cheap Time
Quartz stopwatch which presents you with the time (12 or 24 hour system), has an alarm, and operates as a stopwatch. Palm sized, it has 3/16" tall LCD readouts, and comes in assorted colored plastic (our choice) with lanyard to hang around your neck. That all sounds great, and it is, once you exercise a little patience translating the instructions from the English translation of Chinese on the box!! The problem is that the case and the movements of the setting and stop/reset etc. buttons are pretty cheap. It is fully functional, but we are not going to make any claims about durability. On the other hand, how extensively do most of us use stop watches anyway?

Never Weaken
Good advice-and true of this dynamo torch. Actually a (3) LED flashlight, but we think the manufacturer had the Brits in mind when he named it. Has (3) LEDs and a switch that lights (1) or all (3) of them. Runs on an internal, rechargeable lithium-ion battery that you crank up-(1) minute of winding provides (30) minutes of light. (We read it on the box.) And it's a palm-sized cutie that has a very Voyage-to-the-Bottom-of-the-Sea look to it. A must for blackouts!

Mylar Warmth
They have the look of something designed for the space program. They're mylar, a paper-thin shiny metallic sheet, that comes in handy when your car breaks down in winter, or when you're separated from your climbing group on the slopes of Mt. McKinley. Barring that, they're also a perfect material for a do-it-yourself cold-climate Halloween costume-near impossible to rip by hand, but cut easily with scissors. There's no padding, so they wouldn't be too comfy on your bed, but they sure are warm. They both come folded about the size of a wallet. The Blanket is 52" x 82", the Sleeping Bag is 34" x 84".

Sleeping Pad
Campers put these pads under their sleeping bags to insulate themselves thermally and ergonomically from the hard cruel ground. They call them "Insulite" which sounds like a brand name and they are military grade. We don't know if the items we have are seconds from that company or somewhere else, but we can't tell the difference. They are at least 20" x 60" and are 3/8" thick dense foam rubber. We have light blue, dark blue khaki/green and mauve/purple, from which we shall pick your purchase. One side is glossy with more closed pores than the other. We have used them, and they are great! Feather light too at only 20 oz. Good as light duty tumbling or exercise mats as well.
