German Decontamination Kit

New surplus from the other side of the Rhine. Nice dark-olive-drab plastic case, 8-1/2" x 8" x 4-1/2" with a slip-on lid on a removable canvas strap. Inside is a pair of 1-liter bottles, 7" tall x 3-1/2" square, with screw caps that have white nylon brushes on 4" long shafts inside. If you're not into military decontamination, it's ideal for traveling sign-painters.

39504 DECONTAMINATION KIT
$9.50 EACH

Belgian Box

Olive-green plastic box with stainless steel latch and hinges, once the home of a Belgian army gas-detector kit (Gasdetectiedoos, Compleet) now comes with only its minimal dividers (one long, one clip), and possibly a leftover component or two. The sturdy plastic case is 10-3/4" x 6-3/4" x 2-3/4" deep, with a snap-down clasp and (2) 39" long canvas shoulder straps that are adjustable. Nice for a small toolbox or tackle box.

39867 BELGIAN ARMY NBC BOX
$8.50 EACH

Plush Pouch

Direct from the U.S. Army, this desert-tan nylon pouch was made to hold a 2-qt non-sloshing bladder canteen. So authentic that it probably will have the original stenciling and user's name on it. Has a plastic latch, belt clips, an adjustable and detachable 42" shoulder strap. The cushy fake-fur lining insulates it in the winter. Wet the lining for a cooling effect in hot weather. Measures 8-1/4" x 7" x 3" with a little 3" x 2-1/4" pocket on the front. (Water purification tablets?) Don't carry water? It'd make a nice, warm traveling gerbil habitat. (There's even a drain hole in the bottom.)

Sleeve-Tow Target Release

One Type A-1 Sleeve-Tow Target Release. Part Number 49D7600. This 3-legged, 8" long steel frame has a small ring at the connect-to-the-plane end, and an 8" dia steel ring at the other. Stitched firmly to the ring is a 15" long fabric wind sock made to trail behind it. Originally used to pull a target drone behind U.S. military aircraft. Now a candidate for a funky hanging light fixture, with or without the wind sock with its warehouse wear and tear.

Mystery Surplus Rope

Almost certainly military, but its original purpose is lost. You get (30) feet of 3/16" dia brownish rope with (32) 3-1/4" long papoose-shaped steel wire loops affixed every 10" along (24) feet of it. Could have been to hang equipment between trees, make a bivouac shower stall, harness a huge sled-dog team, or hook-up skinny POWs for a long march. You might string camping lights or wet clothing on it, take a couple of dozen puppies for a walk, or make a really tough stringer for big fish.

Red Circle On A Stick

Which apparently means "Road Closed" in Germany. It's 21" long OA, a 15/16" dia wooden handle with a 6" dia reflective metal disk on the end, white with a red circle on the perimeter. Like a miniature version of the lollipop lady (crossing guard) signs in the UK. Take it out and stop Audis in their tracks, or use it as a target, group leader signal, or as an emergency canoe paddle.

Hawkeye Pierce's Floor Lamp

Except this one's a lot newer, and from a former Soviet bloc country that no longer exists, which is why we have it. But it's your basic mobile military lamp, in this case made for filling teeth in the field, but perfectly usable for any outdoor surgery, or for bunker-themed decorating. Stands on a 26" wide (at the feet) x 5-feet tall steel tripod with a 39" boom. Has an 8-foot-plus power cord with a Euro plug, a 7-1/2" x 4-1/4" x 2-1/2" power transformer box hanging off the boom, a 5-1/2" x 11-1/2" reflector/lamp housing with a 24V 150W halogen bulb (plus a spare), and a 34-foot power jumper with alligator clips for battery operation. The whole MASH-worthy magilla comes in a 27-1/2" x 14-1/2" x 11-1/2" reinforced wooden carrying case with handles and hasps. Will also take commercially available halogen bulbs.

Find Polish Metal!

Search for zlotys on the beach, or just be the first militaria collector on your block with a USSR-era Polish army surplus mine detector. (That's a Polski armia nadwy?ka möj wykrywacz, we think.) Comes complete with (8) feet of pipe (in 2-foot sections) for getting farther from the mines, a 5-foot cord on the headphones, a log-book, a canvas carrying pouch, and a small box wrench. The downside? It's battery operated (and may even come with one or two dead ones) but not by batteries in any size we recognize, so making it operable could be a challenge.

Flour, Sugar, Salt, Tank Round

A different kind of canister. This one's from the Israeli army tank corps and once held a nice big piece of ordnance. Measures 23-1/2" long x 6-1/2" square (it has square blocks on a round tube) in black plastic. Internal storage space is approx 13" x 4-5/8" dia and it has a twist-off cap with a fold down handle. Got a fair amount of hose-offable dirt/mud on it, which it no doubt came by honestly.

Uncle Sam's Latrine! For Two!

Our very first two-passenger military-surplus field latrine! Relive those golden moments spent sitting over a slit trench in the woods with a friend. This new (no need to thank us) genuine WWII-era U.S. Army wooden latrine is painted olive drab, weighs 37 lbs, and measures 41" long x 17" x 19-1/2" high. The 18" x 14" flip-up lids are over a pair of toilet-seat-shaped openings above the open bottom. Folds flat for storage and transport. All you add is the trench. We're thinking storage bench/conversation piece for the front hall or mud room.

No-Chuting Parachute

Our full-size, lightly used, nylon parachutes in assorted colors are approximately 23-foot square canopy with cut corner edges and shroud lines attached. And it's for making lovely diaphanous silky things, or turning your family room ceiling into a Turkish bazaar, or creating a unique, shade-casting pergola in your backyard, or even for playing games at camp. It's not, ever, under any circumstances, over-your-dead-body, for jumping out of airplanes. Never, ever, OK? Weighs a diaphanous 6.5 lbs, and has a nice hanging loop at the top for making those tent-like structures.
