Double Vision
A clever twin-lensed loupe that clips on eyeglasses for hands-free magnification. Each 1" dia, 3.3-power glass lens is at the end of a thin metal arm and swivels easily. The metal clip mechanism is about 1-1/2" long, each lens and arm about 2-1/2" long. Use a single lens, or line two up to double the loupe to a 6.6 power. Individually, each has a 3" working distance. When they're used together, it's 1-1/2".

We're not sure, but he's close to our hearts, since Gd is a magnetic metal of the rare-earth group, and you know how we love rare earth magnets. This excellent 38-1/2" x 26-3/4" poster of the Periodic Table lists the elemental information about Gd and 117 other elements, and includes mini-biographies of (7) scientists. The full-color poster is not laminated, but is a good quality coated paper, and a fascinating addition to any classroom.

A Sherlock Holmes-type magnifying glass is good, but this is better. It frees your hands and throws light on the subject! This 120-volt magnifying desk lamp has a heavy 7-3/8" x 5-1/2" x 2" base with a power switch, standard lamp cord, and 11" gooseneck ending in a 5-1/4" dia shade. Under the shade is a circular fluorescent bulb and a 3-3/8" dia lens with a flip-back cover. The box says the lens is 5X, we think it's closer to 2X. Either way, it's a major improvement if you need help to examine scientific specimens, to inspect stamps or jewelry, or just to read. And we won't even talk about how your nail care is going to improve after you see your cuticles under this thing!

Small, but mighty useful if you need a tiny tap and die set for threading wire or stripped screws. The micro set has a 3-1/4" long die plate and 14 taps (sizes 7 through 20 -- read 0.7 mm through 2.0 mm), and a mighty attractive price. Gadgeteers, get out your charge card. This is an instrument you absolutely have to own. It reaches down below sofa cushions, inside piggy banks, into fish tanks, and past a gallbladder. Not simultaneously, of course. The slim stainless steel alligator forceps is 11" long OA, with a 2-1/2" angled handle and an 8-1/2" reach. It has small 5/8" long serrated jaws, delicate but tight, at the very tip! Better buy an extra. We guarantee people are going to "borrow" these if they see them.

What’s left of a Kansas City cow after all the steaks are gone? Lots of leather! (Think buckskin, not biker jacket.) You choose from: 1) The one-piece Lace Leather Belly. Really more of a long half-belly, this solid piece of leather is between 2-1/2 and 3-1/2 sq feet. Ours was black, approx 10-1/2” wide x 53” long x 1/8” thick. 2) A pack of Leather Strips. Ours was a very assorted 2 lbs of strips and larger pieces of leather, 1/16” to 1/8” thick, in rust and brown. 3) The Farmer Bundle Repair Bag, 2 lbs of scraps in various colors. Ours contained a solid 12” x 8” black piece and a very large bundle of brown leather thongs 47” long x approx 1/8” square. Lots of variety, and lots of heavy leather for the price.

DIY Fridge Magnets
Start with a 42" x 3/4" x 1/32" thick strip magnet-refrigerator-magnet strength-with dark blue or white vinyl facing (we'll pick, but more are blue, and either color could be peeled off the black magnet with a little effort). Then get a contrasting marker, a pair of scissors, and make your own fridge stick-ups. (We found this particularly useful for personalized, threatening messages on the office ice box.)

It's the biggest fridge magnet in the world, 47-3/4" long x 7-1/4" wide x .024" thick. It's red vinyl, with a corner lopped off 4" from one end and a 1/4" wide mottled white strip around the edges-and it's just crying to be written on with a marker, dry-erase or otherwise. Stick it on the door vertically and write a two-month grocery list on it. Cut it up and make hundreds of fridge magnets. If we had a category just for customers who lust after Jules Verne inventions and elegant gadgetry, this would be in it. The wonderful brass sundial, a reproduction of an antique, is approx 3" dia x 11/16" thick overall, and actually works! A latitudinal gauge lets you tilt the engraved dial to the correct angle for your location, and a bubble and three leveling feet allow the 1-1/2" dia lock-down compass to point in the precise direction.
