Swinging Balls
The classic swinging balls, to amuse you on slow days in the office or physics lab, and to demonstrate Newton's Third Law. Drop one of the five hanging balls, one flies out from the other end; drop two and two fly out; drop three and it's amazing. The balls are set in a 7" x 9" x 9" high wooden frame. Isaac didn't invent these mesmerizing toys, by the way. That took Simon Prebble (whom some of you may remember as the evil Martin Chedwyn on "As the World Turns") who had an energy transference inspiration in 1967. (Where else can one learn these things?)

It's 1953 all over again! Now you can buy your favorite childhood toy for your grandkids! We have the original Burp Gun that rapid-fires small ping-pong-type balls the length of our office as fast as we can pump the barrel (no batteries needed). All right, we remember the grip of the original as plain old brown plastic, and this one is bright red - but kids are used to a lot more stimulation these days! The Burp Gun, which comes with 15 balls, is 30" long when fully extended. The Burp Pistol, which comes with 7 balls, is 12" at its smallest and extends to 17". Great fun - but maybe you'd better buy a couple of bags of extra balls (10 per bag). Big sisters still stomp on them.

And in the kitchen. Lose the pics of the dog and build your very own marble track device on the fridge door. Comes with (11) pieces: (2) 8" and (2) 6" rails, (2) curvy 11" switchback rails, a "tornado funnel," a 3" dia spinning wheel, a couple of counterweighted spinning buckets and a catch box--all held on by magnets--plus a dozen marbles, because you're going to lose a few under that fridge. It's all done in high-fashion lime green and purple plastic and if mathematics works, there ought to be 100 possible Goldbergian combinations. CJ calls it very cool, and we trust him.

Big puppy, with (25) sheets of heavyweight, 14-3/4" x 10" calligraphy/sketching paper in a spiral-bound book. The paper is off-white, with one vellum-like textured side, one smooth side, and a light brown cover with a Chinese pictograph-ish design. Equally useful as a blank scrapbook. Retailed for over $20.
