Stick the dull, but leaded end of your wooden pencil into the left nostril of this nose and twist clockwise. Newly manufactured P-38 Can Opener from the same folks who supply them to Uncle. It folds! into 1-1/2" x 5/8" flat piece which is easily carried and lost. Reportedly works much better than the Asian knockoffs for those who really want to gain entry to the Spam!

Mylar Warmth
They have the look of something designed for the space program. They're mylar, a paper-thin shiny metallic sheet, that comes in handy when your car breaks down in winter, or when you're separated from your climbing group on the slopes of Mt. McKinley. Barring that, they're also a perfect material for a do-it-yourself cold-climate Halloween costume-near impossible to rip by hand, but cut easily with scissors. There's no padding, so they wouldn't be too comfy on your bed, but they sure are warm. They both come folded about the size of a wallet. The Blanket is 52" x 82", the Sleeping Bag is 34" x 84".

You'd expect to find these 5" x 7" souvenir cards at Navy Pier, before there was anything at Navy Pier. They're circa 1980, with full-color touristy photos. If you're a Chicago buff, frame them. Or pass them out at your next party and see who can pinpoint the date of the photos from high-rise construction and cars in the background. Or actually use them as notecards, if you don't mind the slightly dated look. (10) in a pack, with at least (5) different scenes.

REALLY BIG
Everything about this magnifying glass is big. Really big. Hence the name. A approx 6" dia lens provides 2x magnification. The frame is metal, and the handle is 6" long and made of metal. Ostensibly handheld, but with a nearly-inch-thick glass lens, it's heavy enough to give your lower arm muscles a big workout.

We don't like to brag, but it's tough not to in a case like this. This is a wonderful pen-shaped laser pointer, 5-1/4" long, flat black or silver with gold pocket clip and head. It throws a red point a loong way (we've thrown it two city blocks at night, and it would've gone farther, but buildings got in the way). And what are we so proud of? We've seen a very similar item-not identical, mind you, but essentially the same-in one of those glossy, toys-for-grown-men catalogs. Their price? $20! Sacre Bleu! This wonderful glass container from Canada has (5) different salad dressing recipes printed tastefully on it - in French. Figure out the ingredients, fill to the oil and vinegar levels indicated, and mix right in the bottle. It's 7" x 2-7/16" dia, has a slight pouring lip, and holds up to 10 oz. It will take a #9 rubber stopper or #22 cork - or seal the 1-1/2" ID mouth with your palm as you shake it. Very earthy. Very chic.
