Black and white sand in a viscous colored fluid. The sand and fluid are between 5-1/2" wide x 3-1/2" high panes of glass, framed on a gimbaled stand. Flip the panel and watch the sand swirl and eddy into endlessly new pictures of dunes, drifts, mountains or moonscapes, depending on your imagination and the pattern they form. The mix of black and white creates a definite third dimension to the images. Pretty neat, as these things go.

They've reinvent the paper clip! The old ones were so awfully dull. These are in snazzy jewel tones, with a plastic case over a set of tiny metal jaws. Slide out the metal jaws, stick the paper inside and push the plastic sleeve to clamp them on. You'll get an assortment of red, deep blue and purple, 3/4" across x 1/2 thick.

Like an hourglass, but with multicolored oozy gloop instead of sand. Much more fun to watch. They're called "Shining Timers," but they're pretty vague as to the timing part. The 8" x 3-1/8" dia timer, tripartite like Gaul, has red, blue and yellow gloop in the divided acrylic chambers. Runs out in about 20 minutes, give or take. The little guy is 5" tall x 2-1/8" dia, bifurcated with blue and clear gloop in the half-round chambers, and takes approx 5-6 minutes.

Each non-sterile transfer pipet measures 6-1/8" long, with a 1mm mouth, a 3/16" dia neck, and a 1/2" dia bulb. It holds 3.5ml and is graduated up to 1ml in .25ml increments. Made for a laboratory, of course, but equally useful in the kitchen, for portioning out that aceto balsamico tradizionale di Modena you paid $80 an ounce for.
