Fountain Connection
Decidedly clever little gizmo, reminiscent of our ever popular Tornado Tube. It consists of a plastic sleeve into which one screws two empty 2-liter soda bottles. Inserted into this connecting tube are two clear plastic "straws", one extending toward the bottom of each bottle. Fill one bottle 3/4 full of water, colored if you like, invert the duo, and watch water spew from the top end of the top "straw". It's all because of the vacuum created as water drains from one bottle to the other, and is a good physics demonstration item. But it looks as though the water defies gravity. Amaze everyone at your next party! Highly recommended for anyone who enjoys a "Tornado Tube".

Map Measurer
Nice plastic cigar-sized "Map Measurer." Turn the knob to display one of (15) different scales, roll the roller along your route and it tells you how far you have to go! Scales in both metric and English, from 2-1/2" = 1 mile to 1" = 16 miles. Plus settings for metric/English volume, weight and distance conversion.

Geoboard
Blue transparent plastic board 5" sq, double sided with a 1/4" deep rim around it. On each side are a number of pegs, in a square grid on one side and a circle plus center and (board) corners on the other. The idea is to use the included rubber bands to create shapes from plane geometry. The idea works. And of course the kids will enjoy creating shapes on they're own, and shooting rubber bands!! Ours are a little warped though. (Hey that's surplus!) A pricey item in regular channels.

Tornado Tube
Simple, yet clever 1" dia. by 3" long plastic device to demonstrate the vortex effect of a tornado. Partially fill with water one of the two half-gallon size plastic soda bottles which you supply. Screw the bottles into opposite ends of the tube which we supply. Tip so the full bottle is on top and give it a circular starting whirl. Presto! You have a vortex. Call it a tornado if you're a meteorologist, a Charybdis if you're a classicist, or a whirlpool if you're into oceanography. Lots of fun and a fine opportunity to attempt to explain the effects of the earth's rotation on water draining out of a bathtub. The phenomena are related we're told, but good luck!!

Full Page Magnifying Sheet
Flat plastic Fresnel lens. This flexible magnifier is 7-1/4" x 10-1/4" and only about a millimeter thick. It is great when you need to scan a list or to look for something in a directory. You can see most of the page without moving the magnifier. Only about 1.5 power, but that can make a huge visual difference. The quality is not high, but neither is the price.
