Cool Tool
Winner of this week's "What IS That?" award. It's a watch crab, also called a spanner wrench, that's designed to remove the back from watches, lenses from telescopes, and other thin, flat components from whatever they're attached to. Heavy for its size, it's 1" x 2-3/4" x 3/8" thick, with sharp 1/4" prongs projecting from the edge. The prongs move from 2" to 7/16" apart as you spin the furled nut between them. An impressive tool to flash in front of your brother-in-law. If he doesn't read our catalog, he won't have a clue!

Jelly Jars

You'll want it. Everyone who sees it wants it. The 8" x approx 2" dia tool (it's slightly elliptical to fit comfortably in your hand) comes in a fitted plastic carrying case. It has a solid, quality feel and weighs in somewhere between a rotary and a full-sized power tool for true versatility. It comes with (4) interchangeable attachments about 4-1/2" long. There is a grinder that also cuts and polishes, a triangular-head sander, a jigsaw, and a chisel/gouging head, plus more than (40) tips, blades, pads, etc. for the attachments. It has a thumb-wheel to vary the speed from 8000 to 23000 rpm, an on/off switch, and a power cord over 6 ft long. Think beefy rotary tool for use on wood, metal, plastics or stone. Clever little mind teaser of the travel toy variety. A black plastic case, 3-1/4" x 3-5/8" x 3/8" holds (10) different brightly colored plastic blocks or shapes. Pick one of the shapes and place it in a corner of the holder. Then try to get the others to fit in. You can start with any of the shapes and there are over (60) solutions, so the little dears won't get too frustrated. Fun for the geometrically minded. Ages 6 and up.

A Lot Of Pull
Pick up this 1-3/4" x 7/8" x 3/8" ceramic pick-up magnet while we still have it. It's in a heavy metal housing and has a stationary metal hoop, about 1/2" i.d., on top. The manufacturer tells us the magnet will grab up to 30 lbs of metal, and while Pat wouldn't bet on anything over 20 lbs, it's still very strong. Especially if you're going to dangle it on the end of a cord to gather spilled nails or to fish your keys out of the lake/pond/sewer/drain!

Customized wall finishes in not-many hours, for not-many dollars. Layer decorative designs on painted walls with a carved 7" dia sponge. With the sponge and removable handle, the applicator is approx 3-3/4" thick, including the 3/4" deep carved design. There is a small detail sponge for filling in areas near corners and woodwork, and a video with tips on how to sponge like a pro. Sponge Prints(tm) recommends the faux finish for borders, furniture, lampshades, tablecloths and shower curtains in addition to walls. Our designs include one with stars of various sizes, and a spiraling acanthus design that if it was easy to describe wouldn't be named Classico.

Terrific glass lampshades in a straight-sided bell shape. You get (2) matching shades, our choice of a clear iridescent glass with a cut edge, a clear crackle glass, a frosted glass with a graceful blue spiral accent, or one etched with Jack Frost patterns. Each is 4" tall x 4-1/2" dia with a 1-1/2" dia mouth. While they are made to sit large-opening-up on a chandelier or wall fixture (they don't have the rolled rim they'd need to hang upside down) we see them enclosing small candles in a glittering centerpiece. Very sophisticated.
