Pencil Torch
Refillable butane torch, with a 1/2" dia x 5-3/4" body and a 1/4" dia. x 2-1/4" long head. Strong enough to melt solder, silver and gold solder, glass tubing and such metals as gold, silver, copper, tin, and aluminum. Equally handy around the hobby shop, jewelry bench, or lab. Tornado Tube
Simple, yet clever 1" dia. by 3" long plastic device to demonstrate the vortex effect of a tornado. Partially fill with water one of the two half-gallon size plastic soda bottles which you supply. Screw the bottles into opposite ends of the tube which we supply. Tip so the full bottle is on top and give it a circular starting whirl. Presto! You have a vortex. Call it a tornado if you're a meteorologist, a Charybdis if you're a classicist, or a whirlpool if you're into oceanography. Lots of fun and a fine opportunity to attempt to explain the effects of the earth's rotation on water draining out of a bathtub. The phenomena are related we're told, but good luck!!

Mashers and Smashers
Porcelain mortars and pestles. Great heavy duty mortars, with sides that are easily 5/16" thick on the smaller ones, and up to 1/2" on the larger. The mortars are glazed outside, but rough inside, the better to grind, and have a pouring lip. The business ends of the pestles are unglazed, while the shafts are glazed. Very functional, very good looking!! So grind your own spices or lab concoctions as you prefer. You get a mortar and pestle as a single order.

A Little Lightning
Despite parental advice, here's a good reason to sit in in a dark room and think small. This Plasma Storm isn't as large as a standard plasma ball, so not only is it much more affordable -- the effect is concentrated and startling. The black plastic base has a switch. Drivers In A Disk
The flying saucer meets the screwdriver in these compact driver sets. The larger one is a 2-7/8" dia x 1" thick gray-plastic case with a pocket clip, and holds #3 and #4 flathead, #2 and #3 Phillips, #1 and #2 pozi, and #2 and #3 hex bits, plus a 2-1/4" long driver that fits into a port in the housing for leverage. The smaller one is a 2-piece red-plastic disk, 2" dia x 5/8" thick, with a 1-1/4" chain and a slip ring. It unsnaps to release #3 and #4 flathead and #1 and #2 Phillips bits which fit into a hex port in the housing. At this price, they're perfect for replacement bits, glove compartment, desk drawer, etc. Do handle them carefully, because the cases break easily.
