LEDs By The Dozen
Light emitting diodes. Solid state devices that provide the ubiquitous power and indicator lights on your electronic gadgetry. Unlike lamps, there are no filaments that glow. Rather, some two volts of DC power at a miniscule 10 to 20 milliamps of current get the chemistry excited, and they just plain emit. Emit is a good word, too, as they don't really cast light, but glow brightly. We have a nice assortment of 3 and 5 MM diameter sizes in red, green, orange, and yellow. The longer lead is always positive, the shorter always negative, and you always need a current limiting resistor (about 500 to 1,000 ohms for 5 to 9 volt DC sources) to keep the current in the 10-20 MA range. If that's Greek to you you're either going to blow a lot of LED's or learn to change incandescent indicator lamps ! !

Bow Help
For those who are bow tying challenged, the rigors of holiday decorating can produce sleepless nights wondering how to get away with murdering Ms Stewart. But wait, there is an answer. (To tying bows. We know nothing about murder.) The answer is Bowties(tm): a 3-3/4" wide x 16" long shiny red metallic ribbon with wire reinforced edges. Follow the included instructions on tying and the wire will hold loops and ends precisely where they should be. Great for Wreaths, newel posts, even big packages. Get several and just tell Martha to buzz off.

DIY Bows
Word has gotten around the office that your grab-bag presents leave something to be desired, but you're gift-wrapping is second to none. Maintain your reputation with these festively colored mylar bows. Grasp the (2) inner strands and (2) outer strands, pull, and voila!-you've made a bow. The 20" x 7/8" bow-strands make a 4" dia. x 1-1/2" bow; the 10" x 1/2" bow-strands make a 2" dia. x 1" bow. This couldn't be any easier, or cheaper!

Needle File Set
Miniature 5–1/2" steel needle files. They come in the usual assortment of flat, wedge, triangular, and round shapes, (10) in all. They seem to be pretty uniformly fine with none that we would call coarse. Made in China, they come in a vinyl carrying case that snaps shut. Not as classy as some of the sets we have seen in the $12.00 range, but perfectly serviceable for most applications. And at a third the price.

Ancient Chinese secret for assembling dolls (and they ought to know, given the number of dolls assembled in China): Googly eyes that kids will laugh at are good. Googly eyes kids can pick off and swallow are not good. These 7/16" dia white-plastic eyes with loose 1/8" dia pupils have 1/2" x 1/8" dia striated shafts. Lock washers fit snugly onto the shafts so they stay safely where they belong. We'll send you (6) packs of (6) eyes each - enough for (18) teddy bears or (36) stuffed cyclops dolls.

Chinese Rifflers
Riffler files are most prized by sculptors, wood carvers, model makers and similar fashioners of precision objects. They come in a variety of flat, round and triangular shapes. They are usually pointed and always have a delicate curve toward the point which makes them particularly useful for working in tight and curvy spots. We have a set of (10) in an attractive red plastic case. They are 3 x 180 mm size (about 7"), and were made in China for the King Manufacturing Co. Very nice quality at a very nice price. They can cost as much as $4.00-$5.00 apiece in regular outlets.

Sculpting Tools
AKA wax carvers. Each tool is about 6" long, stainless steel, with a shaped head on each end. Set "B" has two smaller arrow heads, two sort of like golf clubs and two more small (1/8"+) "spoons". The smaller sizes mean slightly sharper edges and points, but they are still basically dull. You certainly could use them to model in wax, or in clay, or to sculpt plaster of Paris. Handy and unusual.

All together now, boys and girls, can you say BARGAIN? A bonanza assortment of (100) 1/8" shank rotary tool attachments: wheels, brushes, stones, sanding wheels, buffing pads, and sundry other stuff. All in a nice wooden box with the latch on upside down-so write "top" on the top. Is that why it's here? That, and the cardboard sleeve that tells us to heed an "importan" warning.
