Resistive element insulated and wrapped in soft, flexible (fiberglass) jacket. The wrapped section is about 27 inches long and about 3/16" in diameter. Each end has a 4 inch insulated lead, but one end is a single strand solid wire and the other is a seven strand braid. We haven't any idea where the marriage takes place! Anyway, they're rated at 90 watts. Plug 'em into 110 VAC and the thing heats up to the point that it's quite hot to the touch - too hot to hold onto. Wrap it around whatever it is that you need to keep warm and make your own heating systems. Make yourself a coil and you can probably keep your coffee pot hot. Or operate it at 12 volts as a telescope dew chaser. You'll notice some smoke when you plug it in the first time, but this won't happen once it's burned in. Happy heating by Hot Watt. Melanie, Tory, and Donna all want one!

Terrific little glass bottles with looooong necks, in the shape called "Ampules". About half the total height is a standard cylindrical shape, at the top of this there is shoulder and above that, is an elongated tulip shaped neck. All are clear. They may have either a blue, gold or ground band on or below the "bulb" of the tulip. Bud vases for a single forgetmenot, decorative holders for colored sand or water, delicate vials for perfumes and essences, whatever the use, you just won't find them in stores. The 2 ml is 75mm tall with a 4mm neck and is 11.5mm at the bottom while the 5 ml is 88mm tall with a 6mm neck and is 16mm in diameter at the bottom. Looking for bulk savings? Never seemed fair to nail the "lazy" tag so permanently on the "Susans" but that probably has no "bearing" on the issue. Also called turntable bearings, they are the square, flat ball bearing devices YOU bolt between two flat objects to achieve rotation. Like that spinning center section of a Chinese restaurant table. We had these in surplus once and they were quite popular. To our chagrin, we discovered they could be bought commercially for the same price. So we did. The 4" version is rated for a 300lb. load, the 6" for 500lbs., and the 12" (round) for 1000lbs.

Rubber-headed spring clamp holds objects (up to 1/4" thick) in a firm grip but won't hurt them. A two-position thumb latch locks the 3" long U-shaped clamp closed on thicker or thinner stuff. Meant for clamping things together while glue sets, but you could also use this clamp to grab onto something loopless so you can hang it from a hook.

AKA hand boiler. An exotic bit of hand blown glass with a bulb at top and bottom connected by some zippy tubing that spirals, loops, and/or jogs. In the closed system is some colored liquid (methyl chloride) that is very light. Hold the lower bulb in you hand and as the air in the system is warmed it pushes the fluid through the loops to the upper chamber. When all the liquid is pushed out of the lower bulb, expanding air will bubble through the tubing making it appear that the liquid is boiling. WARNING! The glass is fragile and the liquid is nasty. If you drop the thing on e.g. the kitchen tile, it will eat the finish off the tile and the stain in the liquid will permanently stain the floor. So don't let kids handle this item unsupervised. About 7" tall, it is a favorite in our stores.

Eye dropper, tongue dropper, test tube dropper, petri dish dropper, anywhere dropper. Use this 3" glass dropper, with a rubber squeeze bulb to drop small amounts of liquid wherever you think they should go. You will have to measure by counting drops, though, because there are no markings on it. Also, it is called "3" because that is about how long the glass tube is. Overall, it is 4" long.

Four fine funnels, a fantastic fare. Sturdy plastic, the biggest is 4-1/8" dia at the mouth, with a 1/2" dia spout; the smallest has a 1-7/8" dia mouth, 1/4" spout. The other (2) are in between. Frankly, it's freaky fun flowing fluids from four funnels!

A little pricey for a 2" x 2" x 1/8" thick piece of clear glass, until you figure that this is pretty darned talented glass, and that it filters heat and reflects infrared and ultraviolet rays. Then it's a bargain!

Banish from your mind all thoughts of pointless surplus pins. Our (240) dressmaker silk pins are as sharp as David's comebacks on the phone. They're nickel-plated, 1-1/16" long, and size 17. (David is only a 15-1/5, but he's never dull, either.)
