Return with us now those thrilling days of the 17th century, the predigital world when things were more interesting, and more tasteful. This version of G.G.'s thermometer is the most elegant we've seen, with no bright, discordant colors spoiling the science. It's a simple, 11" tall, clear-glass tube on its own 2-7/16" dia base, with (5) globes full of opaque white fluid, and plain silver tags, floating inside. Globes run from 64°F/18°C to 80°F/26°C in 4°F/2°C-degree increments. Includes instructions and a silver plastic sleeve that slides over the cylinder to give it a more 21st century look, but we'd skip that. Ruins the aesthetic.

Looks like a car-door remote, wails like a banshee. Hook your keys on one end of this 2-1/2" x 1-1/2" x 5/8" dark-gray plastic case, but if you pull the other loop, 120 decibels of high frequency, deafening alarm let loose like Birgit Nielson with a staple in her tongue. Has a 7/8" dia slip ring and a pushbutton red LED to help you find the keyhole in the dark. Runs on (4) coin cell batteries, thoughtfully included.

Carry this in your wallet so you don't start to look like a wallet, and use it to test for the SPF protection the kids need before they turn into bacon bits. Our credit-card-size UV meter measures the intensity of ultraviolet rays and suggests protection in (3) SPF ranges. Also has a window to test the UVA/UVB protection ability of eyeglass lenses. Tests take (20) seconds. (Don't leave this card sitting out in the sun, by the way, lest it lose its magical abilities.)

Spot that ubiquitous black wheelie bag with this really, really bright neon-orange luggage tag. Measures 2-3/4" x 1-3/4" with a little strap and buckle, plus a self-cover so nobody can see your address without lifting it up. Guarantees that you get your own black bag, or at worst a bag belonging to a fellow AS&S customer.

We saw articulated, foot-tall wooden artists' mannequins just like these in a Paris gallery window last year, with all their little articulated parts painted in different high-gloss colors. Very harlequinesque, and many, many Euros. Our 12" mannequins are in unfinished wood, but if you've got paint you could get all avant rive-gauche and paint your own. Not that sensitive? Paint your local NFL uniforms on 'em. In a pinch, you could use them as intended, as artist's models, but where's the fun in that?

Next to the postage-stamp-sized magnet that suspends our scissors on the wall of our cubicle, this is our favorite thing. The dark-brown, rubber-coated channel magnet is only 3/4" x 3/8" x 5/16", snaps around a standard ballpoint pen (up to 5/16" dia), and has just the right amount of strength to hold the pen on a metal drawer front or on the side of a file cabinet. And you can get enough for the whole office for less than the cost of your morning latte!
