A Light In The Darkness
This little 120 VAC, 40 mA neon indicator lamp is 3/8" x 7/32" dia, with 1" wire leads. It has clear glass and a nice orange glow, but with its 150 ohm resistor it's a little dim to be used in bright light. We suggest you use it in darker surroundings, because you don't want to remove the resistor. Like we did....

Camera Tripod
A tripod with true portability -- It weighs only 2 lbs, the 4-ft aluminum legs (which can be locked down independently at any length) telescope to a convenient 22", and it slips easily into a zippered black-nylon quiver. The mast, which has a standard 1/4-20 camera mount and a built-in level, can be cranked up (literally) another 9-1/2". The manufacturer doesn't say how much weight the tripod will bear, but we'd keep it to under 10 lbs. Very nice for the money.

Folding Magnifier
Newspapers and telephone books just got easier to read. Lay the 4" x 1" magnifying acrylic bar flat on the print for a 2X magnification. Switch on the flashlight that's part of the handle, and light the print. The device is 9-1/2" long when extended, 5" long when the retractable bar is folded into the black-plastic handle.

A Little Lightning
Despite parental advice, here's a good reason to sit in in a dark room and think small. This Plasma Storm isn't as large as a standard plasma ball, so not only is it much more affordable -- the effect is concentrated and startling. The black plastic base has a switch. Turn it on at which point the 3" dia plastic globe (think baseball size) is filled with blue stems that flare to pink, looking like dozens of electric flowers searching for a way out. Very cool. Comes with a 6-ft power cord with transformer.

When you need that print to be just a tad bigger and brighter, whip out your light-up, fold-out acrylic bar magnifier. The 4" long x 1-1/8" wide x 5/8" thick convex bar swings out of a 5" long black plastic case, lies flat, and magnifies approx 2X. Runs on 2 "AAA" batteries (not included) and is lit by a replaceable flashlight bulb (included). Just the right size, by the way, for a column of newsprint.

Tiny Table Lamp
On tiny tables or the desktop, this lamp throws a nice puddle of light for its size. The 4-1/4" x 3" x 1-1/2" tall base supports an 8" long gooseneck with (14) bright white LEDs at the top. Silver-plastic and chrome, with a pushbutton switch on the base, it comes with (3) "AAA" batteries. We're putting ours on top of the dresser so maybe we'll finally be able to tell what color socks we're taking out of the top drawer, but it would make a nice little reading or camping lamp. Should give 15 hours of light with fresh batteries.

Bargain alert! It's small enough to fit in your shirt pocket, which is why it's got a pocket clip, and plenty bright. Our little LED flashlight runs on an included "AAA" battery and has a 4-5/8" long gooseneck attached to a 3-3/4" x 9/16" dia body so you can see inside crannies and nooklets. Remove the paper spacer on top of the battery before you curse us because it won't go on.
