The instructions recommend this kit for experimenters nine years old and up, with adult supervision. Some experiments call for the addition of household chemicals like chlorine bleach, hydrogen peroxide or sugar.

These 12 oz. plastic bottles look like they might have been made for aftershave or hair oil. They might also line up very neatly in a rack in the lab or workshop. They're 4-1/2" across, 1-3/4" deep, and 5" tall (counting the screw-on cap). The mouth is 15/16" ID and they are a beautiful dark blue.

This big, thick glass candle-keeper weighs a nearly untippable (2) pounds. Stands 3-3/8" tall x 4-3/16" dia with 1/2" thick walls, and a 2-1/2" deep x 2-3/8" dia interior. It's deep sea-blue with a grit-ified, pebbly exterior finish. Flat, polished ovals on two sides also let it stand at a nearly vertical angle, mimicking a mini-grotto on table top or aquarium bottom. It casts a lovely cerulean glow as light passes through it. The price is lovely, too, since many of them are pre-priced at $16.50.
