Letter To The Editor
Sir: It is indeed a shame what our country has come to. I refer to these foam gaskets I recently purchased. They are black, 1-1/2" OD x 1" ID x 3/16" thick, very dense and spongy. I have found them to be excellent vibration dampeners in various mechanical devices in my home and shop. But why did they cost me so little? This low price is an outrage that I worry could lessen the value placed on these fine products by the youth of today. The city council should investigate this matter. -name withheld

Real Corks!!
We have obtained a large number of real natural corks, mostly surplus with a few fill-ins bought commercially. They range across the popular sizes used in science labs to seal vessels (drill your own holes for glass tubing, etc) and to use as floats. Or just use them to seal bottles that don't have closures or cry out for a decorative seal.

First Surface Mirrors
Optical imaging folk insist that their reflective surfaces be on top of the glass, because an optically minor “ghost” is created with back surface mirrors. These “First Surface” optical mirrors generally also have better glass and flatter surfaces than their household brethren. Delicate, with the fragile reflective surface exposed, they carry the prices that precision demands. Sew What?
We've had our eye on this macho needle kit. It includes (7) steel needles: (1) 1-3/4" for leather, (1) 1-3/4" for carpet, (1) 2-1/4" for sails, (2) 3" needles, one for packing and one for canvas, and (2) 2-1/8" dia curved needles, one for mattresses and one for lampshades. All right. So maybe you can use the lampshade needle to sew up softballs. May we suggest you stick these on one of our magnets, so you always know where they are?
