Swinging Balls
The classic swinging balls, to amuse you on slow days in the office or physics lab, and to demonstrate Newton's Third Law. Drop one of the five hanging balls, one flies out from the other end; drop two and two fly out; drop three and it's amazing. The balls are set in a 7" x 9" x 9" high wooden frame. Isaac didn't invent these mesmerizing toys, by the way. That took Simon Prebble (whom some of you may remember as the evil Martin Chedwyn on "As the World Turns") who had an energy transference inspiration in 1967. (Where else can one learn these things?)

Portable Oscilloscope
The Velleman HPS10 Personal Scope isn't some graphical multimeter -- it's the complete, portable, affordable oscilloscope you've been waiting for! The 10MHz oscilloscope has an analog bandwidth of up to 2mhz. It has 5mV to 20V/div sensitivity in 12 steps, and a 200ns to 1 hour/div time base in 32 steps, full automatic setup, and 5 different trigger modes. It measures dBm, dBV, DC and rms, has signal markers for Volt and Time, and 2 memories to store signals. It has an X and Y position shift signal, DVM readout with x10 option, and audio power calculation (rms and peak). Easy to use and, with a high-contrast LCD display (128 x 64 pixels), easy to read. Accurate enough for professional use on automotive and audio equipment, digital signals and various types of sensors, but priced low enough for educational and hobby applications. Good things come in (2) different small packages. Our pocket microscopes are compact and perfect for a clear, close look at stamps, coins, flora, insects or assorted minutiae. The 30X version measures 5-3/4" x 1-5/8" x 3/4" in black plastic with a focus knob, on/off switch, small LED for illumination, and a vinyl carrying case. Requires (2) "AA"s. Looks like a cheap kid-sized tennis racket, but brother, this ain't for the kids. It's actually a fine way for adults to work on their upper-body strength and kill bugs at the same time. 18" long, with a 6" wide paddle lined with metal grid. A coil in the handle sends high voltage through the paddle when a button is pushed; hit a bug with it and the bug will bug you no more. But despite the manufacturer's claims that it's safe for people, Scott reports that flesh-paddle contact delivers a nasty shock, nasty enough to say "Keep this away from kids!" We've seen these in other catalogs for about twice the price, so buy it from us. Just be careful with it. 2 AA batteries, not included.
