Terrific little glass bottles with looooong necks, in the shape called "Ampules". About half the total height is a standard cylindrical shape, at the top of this there is shoulder and above that, is an elongated tulip shaped neck. All are clear. They may have either a blue, gold or ground band on or below the "bulb" of the tulip. Bud vases for a single forgetmenot, decorative holders for colored sand or water, delicate vials for perfumes and essences, whatever the use, you just won't find them in stores. The 2 ml is 75mm tall with a 4mm neck and is 11.5mm at the bottom while the 5 ml is 88mm tall with a 6mm neck and is 16mm in diameter at the bottom. Looking for bulk savings? Miniature 5–1/2" steel needle files. They come in the usual assortment of flat, wedge, triangular, and round shapes, (10) in all. They seem to be pretty uniformly fine with none that we would call coarse. Made in China, they come in a vinyl carrying case that snaps shut. Not as classy as some of the sets we have seen in the $18.00 range, but perfectly serviceable for most applications. And at a third the price.

Porcelain mortars and pestles. Great heavy duty mortars, with sides that are easily 5/16" thick on the smaller ones, and up to 1/2" on the larger. The mortars are glazed outside, but rough inside, the better to grind, and have a pouring lip. The business ends of the pestles are unglazed, while the shafts are glazed. Very functional, very good looking!! So grind your own spices or lab concoctions as you prefer. You get a mortar and pestle as a single order.

These liquid crystal displays are raring to go. As soon as we can get Mary Ann to stop playing with them we'll pick out (5) assorted displays for you. (She keeps zapping them with static electricity to see what pops up. Mary Ann is easily amused.) Sizes range from 1-3/16" x 2" to a few as large as 5" x 10". They're unused. Some have pin leads, some have traces right on the wafer. Either way, they're a terrific bargain.

It's not for a beginner, but this generic electret microphone capsule is just made for an intermediate science project. The capsule, which probably came from a cell phone or similar device, is nominally rated at 2.2K ohms. It's 7/32" thick x 3/8" dia, with (2) 1 1/2" leads terminating in a polarized 2-pin connector. Circuitry diagrams are available online at several sites.

as they go past, with a classic chrome palm counter. 1-3/4" dia x 1-3/16" thick, our mechanical 4-digit counter has a thumb plunger and ring to fit around a finger so you don't drop it, you klutz. The numbers are 3/16" tall, and there's a rotary reset for when you have to start over.

Because it's one excellent spotting scope from Celestron®. A Maksutov-Cassegrain design with multi-coated optics, it has a 65mm dia aperture and 30-90X magnification. It comes with a tabletop tripod that adjusts from 9-1/2" to 12-1/2" tall, and has fine-tuning knobs for horizontal and vertical angles. The scope itself, with an image-erect 45-degree eyepiece, weighs just over a pound and measures 3-1/8" dia x 8-3/4". Comes in a very nice black, soft carrying case with a shoulder strap, a hook-and-loop closure, and a handy chamois tucked inside.

Assembled in the U.S. from Russian parts, anyway. What we have here is a full range of sizes in gas masks for children, although frankly, the smallest of them are really more Yorkshire-terrier sized. New, but surplus, and while they're rated NBC for nuclear/biological/chemical contaminants, they carry absolutely no guarantees. These are to be used as part of a collection, or for costume/novelty purposes. The children's masks come with a 12" long hose, filter tank, defogging pencil, and carrying pouch. The Small is for faces less than 4-1/4" between cheekbones (and less than 3" from the top of the nose to the chin). Medium is for 4-1/4" to 4-1/2" (3" to 3-3/8" top of the nose to the chin).

Forget watchmaking, you could write the "A Tale of Two Cities" on a piece of tortellini with this triple magnifier visor. Magnifies from 2.2X to 8X. Has a permanent 2.2X lens, a flip-down lens, and a flip-down loupe. Separate white LEDs at each temple, powered by (2) "AAA"s each which aren't included. Now then: It was the best of times, it was the worst of times….
