Reduce recycling space with this wall-mount steel can crusher. Very satisfying to use: pull the 12-1/4" long padded handle and it easily smooshes cans up to 5-3/8" tall (standard aluminum beverage size) into squat little accordion-pleated stumps. The black and gray steel unit mounts with the included screws and has a handy bottle opener under its the front lip, because you don't.

Saves you from info-snatching electronic pickpockets, and from leaning against the gas pump and emptying your bank account. (The downside of Radio Frequency IDentification.) Called the "EMvelope," it's an 8-3/8" x 3-1/2" x .012" thick trim-able electromagnetic sheet (think Faraday cage with a floating ground) that blocks radio frequencies up to 2.4GHz. Cut it to size and slip it in your wallet, or wherever, and protect the data on your credit cards, "fast-pay" devices, ID cards, EZ-Pass, or anything else with an embedded RFID chip, including the new U.S. passports.

This all-purpose scissors is the favorite of everyone at A.S.&S.: Pat uses his to cut and strip wire. C.J. uses his to slit the tape on packages. Mary Ann uses hers to open bags of pretzels. It's 6-1/4" long overall, with a very sharp 2" stainless steel blade and large, comfortable handles. It would sell for $9.95 retail if it was new, but it was used for one day to cut cloth in the assembly plant of a major car company, then discarded. Quality control is a wonderful thing.
