C-What?
It's a good thing we have Jim, our car guru, around, because nobody else in the place, including the very astute buyer who bought it, knew exactly what this thing was. Of course we all knew it was a black steel C-clamp. We could see that it had a 2-1/2" dia base plate and a 4-fingered claw with a 2" span that could be tightened against it. Who knew -- except Jim and his demolition-derby buddies -- that it was actually a clamp for hot-patch tire repairs? Ahh, the esoteric knowledge lodged in the brains around here. It's so scary....

Beauteous Tool
A precision drafting compass too fine to be listed as a school or art supply. This is definitely a tool. The flashy-plastic Helix drafting compass draws a maximum radius of over 6" and comes with attachments to hold thick lead, thin lead, a pencil or a cutting knife, and with extra lead, an eraser, and a classy, clear-plastic storage box. Our "better" model has aluminum legs, is 7-5/8" long, and has a thumbwheel adjustment. Priced so far below list that you can afford to buy one as a school or art supply.

Just Plane Handy
Our 3-1/2" long mini-plane fits easily into the palm of your hand, and is set at about a 35° angle, making it an all-purpose cross between a block plane and a bench plane. The 1" wide blade adjusts for height in a heavy little cast-iron body. Handy for close work and models; even handier for a little light leveling when you don't need go to the basement for one of the big guns.

We Saw This...
and thought it was an 18-volt bargain, particularly with the backup battery. This sturdy reciprocating saw comes with (2) 18VDC 1.3AH battery packs, a single-port, quick-change charger, (5) blades-(2) metal, (3) wood-an Allen wrench for changing blades and a carrying case. The 2500 rpm motor powers a 7/8" cutting stroke with variable speed, and there's a trigger lock (to keep it off, not on). The shoe is open enough to see what you're slicing and the whole thing weighs 5.5 lbs. Made for Michigan Tools (PN73269). You can go compare prices, but you'll be back. This is a great price.

Old Codger's Carving Set
Not an old codger? Get an early start. This was made for sitting on the porch, carving family heirlooms after supper. The pressboard case holds a 6-piece wood carving set with (3) small straight gouges, (1) straight chisel, (1) V-gouge and (1) skew chisel. All are approx 5" long, with wooden handles. Be even better if you used them while an old dog was asleep at your feet, but we don't sell old dogs.

Just point and saw. The laser beam thrown by this circular saw guides you through a perfect lumber cut. Our 120VAC 10A version has a 7-1/4" dia, 24-tooth blade. The saw tilts 45° forward or to the right, has a removable parallel stop graduated in cms, a spring-loaded blade guard, a safety switch near the trigger, a port to vent sawdust, and comes with wrenches for changing blades. It has a 5/8" arbor and measures 11-3/4" long x 9-3/8" wide x approx 10" high. You supply (2) "AAA" batteries for the laser light. Double insulated. UL/CSA.

Who's A Chiseler?
Could be you, as soon as this set of high-carbon-steel wood-carving chisels and gouges arrives. Handy for hobbyists and woodcarvers, and useful on the lathe. All have impact-resistant handles. The 13-piece set includes a 1-3/8" wide chisel; 3/8" bent V-tool; 7/16" V-tool; gouges at 15/32", 17/32", and 21/32"; bent gouges at 7/32" and 1/2"; a straight rasp and a bent rasp, both 7/16".
