Speak Into The…
It's not for a beginner, but this generic electret microphone capsule is just made for an intermediate science project. The capsule, which probably came from a cell phone or similar device, is nominally rated at 2.2K ohms. It's 7/32" thick x 3/8" dia, with (2) 1 1/2" leads terminating in a polarized 2-pin connector. Circuitry diagrams are available online at several sites.

Take-Apart
Treadmills? Are those the large pieces of equipment, something like stationary bicycles, that people use as clothes racks? There can't be a lot of demand out there, then, for replacement displays if the originals have gone kaput. Looks like you're in luck, and we'll still have one of the 13" x 9-1/2" x 2-1/4" black-plastic control panel/displays left for you to take apart. The parts will include a 4-1/2" x 1-3/8" LCD, (6) touchpad buttons, and all the circuitry inside it.

Our Flask Inventory Boileth Over
So we're pricing these borosilicate boiling flasks to move quickly. We've got (3) sizes, all with slightly flattened bottoms, each with a single, discreet, capacity mark in white. While the actual physical size can vary slightly, the volume remains the same. The 1000ml flask is 9-5/8" tall OA x 5-5/8" dia with a 1-5/16" ID mouth, and a lip. Takes a #7 rubber stopper. The 500ml flask is 6-7/8" tall OA x 4-1/8" dia with a 1-3/16" ID mouth, and a lip. Takes a #6-1/2 rubber stopper, but a #7 will work. The 250ml flask is 6-1/8" tall OA x 3-3/8" dia with a 1-1/32" ID mouth, and a lip. Takes a #5-1/2 rubber stopper, but a #6 will do the job.

Rechargeable NiMH
While this rechargeable NiMH battery (Mfr Part #B620) fits (31) different Bell South cordless phones, we like it for its battery potential. Shaped like the Superman emblem (1-5/8" tall x 2" wide at its widest x 7/16" thick) the battery has a 2-1/4" lead and a 6mm-wide 2-pin connector, and puts out 3.6V 280mAH. Inside it you'll find (3) 2/3 "AAA" batteries. The 1-1/8" x 3/8" dia cells have flat-tops.

The manufacturer calls the model the Keeper®, perhaps because this new lithium thionyl chloride battery was made for a memory backup system. Also used in GPS systems and others, all of which explains the 15-year shelf life. Measures 1-7/8" long x 1" dia and is rated at 3.6VDC 8500mAH. Has 3/16" wide x 3/4" long axial solder tabs. Polarity is marked on the case. Not rechargeable. Great for robotics.
