The motorheads in the back room are beside themselves, positively gushing about this new, but tested, DC gear motor. Made for a camper roll-out, it operates from 6-12VDC with a nominal voltage at 12VDC. Output is 40rpm from the main 3/4" x 3/4" shaft (with a hole in the center) and 280rpm from a secondary, double-sided, 3/8" threaded shaft with a nut. The overall size is 3-1/4" dia x 9-1/2" long main body with a 9-1/4" x 4-3/4" gear box. Fantastic torque at 400 in/lbs, and reversible. Over 30A stall current. Permanent magnet, intermittent duty, with a electric brake under a rubber boot. And the price is right, since these sell for north of $300 each, new.

Call it the Stephen A. Douglas of gear motors-small, but more than able to go up against the big guys. From Pittman Mfg (part # GM8224), this permanent magnet, reversible, 328 RPM, 24VDC motor runs anywhere from 6-24VDC with exceptional torque throughout the range. No load current draw of 180mA. Stalls at 5.54A. Torque rating of 3.09 oz-in. Overall size is 3-3/8" long x 1-3/8" dia with a 3/16" dia x 11/16" flattened, hardened shaft. Leads are 5" long terminating in a 2-prong plug. Pittman says "self-aligning, sintered bronze bearings and diamond-turned commutators."
