Needle File Set
Miniature 5–1/2" steel needle files. They come in the usual assortment of flat, wedge, triangular, and round shapes, (10) in all. They seem to be pretty uniformly fine with none that we would call coarse. Made in China, they come in a vinyl carrying case that snaps shut. Not as classy as some of the sets we have seen in the $12.00 range, but perfectly serviceable for most applications. And at a third the price.

Diamond point bits that, if used by your dentist would send you through the roof. The assortment of bits includes cylinders, cones (points), balls and a couple of special shapes all in a variety of sizes. In the set of (20), each has 3/32" dia. shank and is about 2-3/4" long OA. In the set of (10), each has a 1/8" dia. shank and is about 1-3/4" long OA, with larger size bit heads. Both come in plastic cases. A craftsperson's delight!!

Hemostatic Heaven
Hemostats are the clamplike devices dangling from veins and arteries in melodramatic operating scenes. Our particular collection are Pakistani surgical-grade instruments made of magnetic stainless steel. As such we rate them pretty good, but not fantastic. Hemostats look like little pliers. The jaws are relatively fine, with rounded tips. The inside faces are lightly serrated to get a grip on tubing or body plumbing. And the handles are much longer than the jaws. Now the heavenly part. Great hobby clamps that can be worked into small areas. Fine heat sinks for electronics. Good hook extractors for trout fisherpeople. Excellent tubing clamps for flow-sensitive chemistry experiments. Sizes are approximate length.

Sew What?
We've had our eye on this macho needle kit. It includes (7) steel needles: (1) 1-3/4" for leather, (1) 1-3/4" for carpet, (1) 2-1/4" for sails, (2) 3" needles, one for packing and one for canvas, and (2) 2-1/8" dia curved needles, one for mattresses and one for lampshades. All right. So maybe you can use the lampshade needle to sew up softballs. May we suggest you stick these on one of our magnets, so you always know where they are?

Brass Mass Set

Small Saws
Stay on the cutting edge with this sharp set of saw blades. The 1-3/4" dia circular blade cuts plastic, particle board, soft metal, etc. The 2" dia and 1-1/4" dia wood blades cut, you guessed it, wood. If you've maximized the value of your Dremel-type tool (1/8" shank.) with a router attachment, we can offer you a great set of mini router bits. It includes 1/8", 3/16" and 1/4" straight bits; 3/16" and 1/4" points; concave, convex and straight edge bits; a 1/4" round-nose bit; and a 1/4" groove-cutting bit that is flat on the bottom and curved on the sides. The Velleman HPS10 Personal Scope isn't some graphical multimeter -- it's the complete, portable, affordable oscilloscope you've been waiting for! The 10MHz oscilloscope has an analog bandwidth of up to 2mhz. Un-Bunsen Burner
So you don't have a gas jet in the garage? You don't think Margie and Ted are old enough to handle the high temperatures of a Bunsen burner? Our alcohol lamps are the answer. They burn alcohol (available at the hardware store), and are hot enough to boil water, to soften glass tubing for bending, and to generate the chemical reactions generally called for in science projects. Lamp A is shaped like a long-necked ink well, 3-1/2" tall x 3" dia at its widest point and comes with a wick assembly and a handy little glass lid/extinguisher. Lamp B is 2-1/2" x 2-1/2" x 2-1/2" glass bowl with a wick assembly that brings the whole to a height of 4-1/2".
