Actually, it's a set of (36) different little polished gemstones and minerals from around the world, all identical sizes (1/2" x 3/8" x 1/8" thick), mounted and identified by name and origin on an 8" x 10" card. Super nice at a super price, for teachers, designers or jewelry makers. The set includes amazonite, amethyst, aventurine, black obsidian, blue lace agate, buttermilk jasper, carnelian, Dalmatian dacite, dumortierite, fancy jasper, fluorite, gold stone, hematite, howlite, jadeite, lapis, leopard skin jasper, mahogany,obsidian, moss agate, nephrite, Picasso jasper, orange calcite, picture jasper, rainbow jasper, rose quartz, rhodonite, rock crystal, rhyolite, red jasper, snowflake obsidian, sodalite, serpentine, tiger eye stone, turquoise and unakite.

Choo-Choo Chelves
…to meet your whimsical storage and display needs. These were part of a Lillian Vernon set of wall-hung shelves that included, we suspect, a locomotive, train cars and a caboose. We got the cars, and we think they're plenty whimsical all by their lonesome. Heavy duty (3/8" thick painted wood) with less than heavy-duty hooks, but you could replace those or screw them straight onto the walls. Our each is a pair. The open-top car is blue, yellow, black and white with a night sky above it, and measures 13-5/8" long x 12-3/4" high x 5" deep. The car with the top is in red, green, black, blue, yellow and white, with the same night sky. It measures 13-5/8" long x 12-1/4" high x 5" deep. Handy dads could buy a second pair, add a few wooden blocks and dowels plus a lick of paint and make an engine and caboose from the closed-top cars. Kiddles love it when their dads do that.

Tiny Table Lamp
On tiny tables or the desktop, this lamp throws a nice puddle of light for its size. The 4-1/4" x 3" x 1-1/2" tall base supports an 8" long gooseneck with (14) bright white LEDs at the top. Silver-plastic and chrome, with a pushbutton switch on the base, it comes with (3) "AAA" batteries. We're putting ours on top of the dresser so maybe we'll finally be able to tell what color socks we're taking out of the top drawer, but it would make a nice little reading or camping lamp. Should give 15 hours of light with fresh batteries.

The ultimate in refrigerator-door decorating: a 25-foot x 3/4" wide roll of dark brown magnetic tape in a handy dispenser with a tear-off bar. Rip off a strip of tape, stick the sticky side to a photo, art project, or note and the magnetic side will hold it on a refrigerator door, file cabinet, or any other steel surface. Light duty, like all fridge magnets, so stick to notes and pix and other fluff.

Why The Blank Face?
So you can decorate it, you crafty thing. This tan-colored papier mache mask is 8-3/8" tall x 5-3/8" wide at the eyes, pretty much the size of your average human face. The side curves around so the mask is 1-3/8" deep. The material is 1/32" thick and very sturdy. Not crafty? Left unpainted, the mask has a certain spooky charm.

(Locking) Syringes
Or sort-of-locking. Push the plunger down and they lock in place, but push the 1/8" nipple down on a hard surface and they'll unlock for re-use. Handy in the shop or craft room for oil, grease, paints, and glues. (Also quite useful for getting liquid medication into the dog.) They measure 3-1/2" long x 9/16" dia and hold 5ml, are graduated in .2ml increments, and have threaded tops. Note the throwaway price.

Cut Right To It
This all-purpose scissors is the favorite of everyone at A.S.&S.: Pat uses his to cut and strip wire. C.J. uses his to slit the tape on packages. Mary Ann uses hers to open bags of pretzels. It's 6-1/4" long overall, with a very sharp 2" stainless steel blade and large, comfortable handles. It would sell for $9.95 retail if it was new, but it was used for one day to cut cloth in the assembly plant of a major car company, then discarded. Quality control is a wonderful thing.

Helping Hands... and Eyes
We just wish there was something, anything, to do around here that required this thing, on account of it's so cool. Our newest Helping Hand has a pair of alligator clips on swiveling arms, likewise a 2-1/4" dia x 1.5X magnifier plus an LED flashlight on a gooseneck. Everything swivels every way there is and tightens with little thumbscrews-and some of the configurations look like it's maybe alive, and from Venus. Jewelry makers? Diamond cutters? Forensic scientists? Maybe we'll start making small electronics, or tying flies.

Poor Man's Luminaria
It's a little 2-1/2" square base with brushed-aluminum-look sides and a mirrored top, in the middle of which 3 colored LEDs flash on and off in individual and combination patterns. Makes a dandy base to show off crystal and cocktail glasses, but stick a large styrene coffee cup upside down over it and put it in a dark room and you have the world's cheapest multi-color light show. Line up a dozen or so on the front walk and you've got the world's first flashing multicolored luminaria show for party nights. You add (3) "AAA" batteries.
