Think of it as a shortcut to learning perspective. This clever 50-sheet pad of white, 7" x 4-1/2" paper has a fine red and blue grid pattern that shows your drawing and doodling in 3-D when you wear the included 3-D glasses. It's our candidate for the why-didn't-I-think-of-that award this year.

Seventy-plus years of Soviet history neatly packed into a set of (5) wooden nesting dolls, just like the chubby-mummy matryoshka, but with hammer and sickle emblems on their backs. The outer doll is a 6-1/2" tall Gorbachev, with Brezhnev, Khruschev (we think), Joe Stalin, and a tiny, 1-3/4" Vladimir Lenin all nesting inside. Recent Russian events are putin them in the surplus universe.

Aka Club Moss, Aka Dinosaur Plant. This innocent little plant will unfold into full lush green foliage when placed in a small bowl of water over night. If removed from the water it will roll up into a dead looking little brown ball. And it will perform the act over and over again. Just as it has ever since dinos roamed the earth. Fun for all!

For the lab, kitchen or cocktail bar. Our rubber-bulb syringe holds up to 60cc/2 oz and is marked in 2cc and 1/2 oz increments. Has a 3-16" ID tip and measures 8-1/4" long with a 2-3/8" dia bulb. Also not bad for shooting liquid medication into the pooch's mouth. You'll get a package of (3).

These white porcelain molds from the balloon industry are, frankly, the scariest medical-looking non-medical items we've seen in a long time. They come in all sorts of sizes, mostly from 5" to 10" long, and a bunch of shapes: rounds, ovals, screws, rods, storks, mouse heads, all on shafts with a threaded end to screw into the balloon machine. They're a surrealist's dream, the answer to an avant-garde sculptor's prayers, and great items to leave in your medicine cabinet for nosy guests to find. Sorry we can't fill requests for particular shapes. It's all we can do to pick out (3) different ones for your package of (5), so try not to make Kathleen feel bad by begging for mouse ears. Thank you.

Yes, you do dig. And when you're finished digging, chipping, and brushing away the 6" x 5" x 4" plaster/earthen block, you're rewarded with a miniature replica of a skull from a Triceratops, Stegosaurus, Pachycephalosaurus, or a Tyrannosaurus. (We'll pick.) When you're done, mount it on the included wooden stand with a plaque identifying it. Includes a little wood pick and brush.

Wanna start your own banana republic? Luckily, we have here the Banana Farm", a plastic terrarium complete with soil, seeds, pebbles, instructions, and a toy monkey (or possibly a lemur), all of which are necessary to grow "the world's largest herb." The terrarium is 7-3/4" x 4-1/4" X 6" tall. Plants will take 3 to 8 weeks to germinate, but can grow a foot in the first month. Careful transplanting into larger pots can, they say, result in plants 8-15 feet tall in 9 months. Careful relocation to a tropical clime, or a thermostat set high enough, might even result in bananas - but we wouldn't bet the banana farm on it.

That's what I'm made for. I'm a gray-plastic, 3-digit mechanical counter that measures 1-1/2" x 1-1/8" x 7/8". My 9/16" long lever kicks my counter up one digit at a time, and my 1" dia toothed side-wheel resets me. I'm a really nice device from the pre-LED world!

It's a little 2-1/2" square base with brushed-aluminum-look sides and a mirrored top, in the middle of which 3 colored LEDs flash on and off in individual and combination patterns. Makes a dandy base to show off crystal and cocktail glasses, but stick a large styrene coffee cup upside down over it and put it in a dark room and you have the world's cheapest multi-color light show. Line up a dozen or so on the front walk and you've got the world's first flashing multicolored luminaria show for party nights. You add (3) "AAA" batteries.

For dusty Dobermans? Nooooo. These are surprisingly powerful and effective dinner-table cleaners, called "crumbers" in the restaurant biz, except these are little battery-operated vacuum cleaners inside extremely compelling creatures. They're all about 6" long x 2-1/4" tall, with a removable filter. You pick from the hot-pink, crumb-sucking piggy; the somnolent but hungry Holstein; or the winsome, although short-trunked, baby elephant. All run on a pair of "AA" batteries, and, unlike the real thing, you push a button and remove their heads to empty them.

And you get to learn human anatomy by putting me back together again. I'm a hard-plastic, full-color human male torso, 10-1/2" tall, with 15 pieces, including my torso. The heuristic fun is fitting my stomach, liver, heart, aorta, intestines, lungs, liver, spleen and other parts back inside. Plus you get to view a bunch of muscles on my right side, which somebody seems to have skinned for your educational benefit.
