Placebo Lens
Please don't pop these little glass DCX beauties in your mouth. Sure, they're shaped like zinc tablets or miniature communion wafers - thin, 14mm dia - but they'll do you no good inside, probably even cause you harm. Instead, utilize their 48.3mm focal lengths for all classroom projects, or combine these with other lenses to build binoculars, magnifiers, microscopes and telescopes.

Little Glass Ampules
Terrific little glass bottles with looooong necks, in the shape called "Ampules". About half the total height is a standard cylindrical shape, at the top of this there is shoulder and above that, is an elongated tulip shaped neck. All are clear. They may have either a blue, gold or ground band on or below the "bulb" of the tulip. Bud vases for a single forgetmenot, decorative holders for colored sand or water, delicate vials for perfumes and essences, whatever the use, you just won't find them in stores. The 2 ml is 75mm tall with a 4mm neck and is 11.5mm at the bottom while the 5 ml is 88mm tall with a 6mm neck and is 16mm in diameter at the bottom. Looking for bulk savings? Zipseal plastic bag of the size gnomes use to store leftovers. 1" sq, 2" sq, 2" x 3" or 3" x 4" (our each come in bags of 100 count), clear polyethylene (the 2" x 3" 27906 has a white strip across one side, 36562 does not.). Store rings, small rock samples, biology parts, and model pieces. Great for cleaning up behind your Guinea pig when you take him for a walk.

Bead Heaven
Glass beads, 0.055" diameter!! They are German and are the kind you glue on stuff to make it sparkle or reflective--not the kind with holes. At our price you could do layers in little bottles for really cool thingums!! We have 'em in clear and a whole host of colors. Craft stores sell tubes of these beads for a ruinous $4.00 per tube or about $3.35 per oz.. Well, we don't have the tube so you are going to get a baggie, but you only have to pay $1.00 per oz so jump up and down and clap your hands over such a great deal!! The only thing left is to choose what you need. In case you can't do that, we offer an assortment of (10) packages which will include clear plus at least six (6) different colors.

Ground Glass
One wiseacre assumed we meant any package leaving our shipping room that once had a glass object in it. That is a malicious rumor. . . Ground glass is thin plate glass, the surface of which has been physically ground or acid-etched to create a grainy, grayish, opaque surface. Use it to produce an image from a lens or lens system. Even a simple magnifier, held between the ground glass and, say, a window, will produce an image of the window scene on the ground glass. Ground glass has another magical property: it is opaque to any object viewed at a distance, but not if that object is in direct contact with the glass surface. A necessary element of your optical education. #2728 (square) is 2"sq x 1/32" thick. #2610 (rectangular) is 3-1/2" x 4-3/8" x 1/16" thick.

Zillions of little bottles. Renegades from a pharmaceutical company, leftover unfilled from runs of exotic we-know-not-what. We have divided them into three basic shapes: A, Narrow Mouth, h (Narr Mo) have a 10mm dia. x 4mm long neck on top of a squarish shoulder, a 13mm dia. 3mm rim and a 7mm dia. opening; B, Wide Mouth, (Wide Mo) have a 16mm dia. x 4mm long neck on top of a squarish shoulder, a 19mm dia. x 3mm rim and a 12 or 13mm dia opening; C, Sloped Shoulder, (Sl Sh) have roughly 5-6mm long neck that tapers from the soft shoulder to 15mm dia, with a 19mm dia x 3mm rim and a 12-13mm dia. opening. Height refers to height overall, and dia. to the body dia. in the table below. Great items for the doll house (for kids old enough not to swallow them), to hold tiny wild flowers, for decorative art work, individual cruets, or just to hold and marvel at. All quite sturdy glass. In the real world, you would pay from $75 (smallest) to $225 (biggest) for 288 of these, which is the smallest quantity you could get!! Narrow mouth bottles take a #00 cork. (Our part number 88746) Wide mouth and sloped shoulder bottles take a #3 cork. (Our item number 88748)

Funnel? Piece of Cake

Peekaboo Canisters
Our aluminum canisters with clear glass pull–off lids are cool. The smallest canisters are aluminum–colored, a set of (20) 1–1/4” dia x 3/4” deep in a 6–1/2” x 5–1/4” x 7/8” lightweight aluminum box with a hinged lid. When the box is shut, a layer of foam padding inside the lid presses down on the canisters, keeping them securely closed. If you need slightly larger canisters, and a cardboard box will work instead of a carrying case, try our colorful display of anodized tins. They are packaged in sets of (12) and come in great assorted colors and are 2” dia x 7/8” deep. Each is an ideal carrying case for paints, many different screws, or other sets of small items or quantities that must remain separate. Prices are per set.

Full Page Magnifying Sheet
Flat plastic Fresnel lens. This flexible magnifier is 7-1/4" x 10-1/4" and only about a millimeter thick. It is great when you need to scan a list or to look for something in a directory. You can see most of the page without moving the magnifier. Only about 1.5 power, but that can make a huge visual difference. The quality is not high, but neither is the price.
