We admit to being old fashioned and believing that food should not be served in a plastic basket. Therefore we consider these items best suited to tiny loads of laundry, carrying summer drinks to the patio set and holding the day's mail for Suzy to come home. However we are often told we are out of it. So you in the "In crowd" will doubtless prefer to serve your barbeque and picnic fare in (on?), okay, with a set of these dudes. The small rectangular is (7-3/4" x 10-3/4") and is white. The oval's are a small (6" x 9-1/4") it being yellow. All have slightly sloped sides and an inside depth of nearly 1-1/2". The bottoms are solid and the sides punched out as "baskets."

Scratch 'n' Tell
You're back to when the kids were toddlers, and played with the wrappings instead of the presents. This full-color wrapping paper, with (2) 26" x 17" sheets in each pack, is covered with pictures and related questions about dinosaurs and black heritage. Okay, they're sticks. They're paper, 5-1/2" long and rolled to 3-16" dia. And they were meant to be lollipop sticks. But does this mean you can't use them to mix adhesives or model paints, or as miniature flag poles, or to remove earwax from large mammals, or to build a palisade for history class? The Garden Hardy® from APPCO should probably be called the Houseplant Hardy. Insert the 4" dia x 5/8" thick disc of nutrients between the saucer and pot of a potted plant, and for up to six months it nourishes the plant by releasing the correct mix of fertilizer as you water it. In addition, the wicking action promotes deeper rooting and prevents root rot. Note: Since dogs and kids rarely get root rot, you don't want to let them ingest this stuff.

…to meet your whimsical storage and display needs. These were part of a Lillian Vernon set of wall-hung shelves that included, we suspect, a locomotive, train cars and a caboose. We got the cars, and we think they're plenty whimsical all by their lonesome. Heavy duty (3/8" thick painted wood) with less than heavy-duty hooks, but you could replace those or screw them straight onto the walls. Our each is a pair. The open-top car is blue, yellow, black and white with a night sky above it, and measures 13-5/8" long x 12-3/4" high x 5" deep. The car with the top is in red, green, black, blue, yellow and white, with the same night sky. It measures 13-5/8" long x 12-1/4" high x 5" deep. Handy dads could buy a second pair, add a few wooden blocks and dowels plus a lick of paint and make an engine and caboose from the closed-top cars. Kiddles love it when their dads do that.

Display a pair, in fact. Our each is (2) clear flexible-vinyl doll display cases with creamy-white plastic bases. The bases are 6" square with 15" tall x 5-7/8" square vinyl cases with clear vinyl tops. The lightweight cases fold for storage. Each case comes with (2) stands: (1) waist grip that adjusts from 6-3/4" tall to approx 10" tall; and (1) 6-3/4" tall saddle style. Includes (2) self-adhesive 1/2" x 3-1/8" brass plates for names. Not into dolls? That waist clamp thing would also be just right for showcasing a prize carrot.

Light Up Your Labrador
They'll see the dog (or you) coming a block away with this black-canvas pet collar. It features a neon-green reflective section nearly the entire length of the collar with flashing red LEDs inside. Works great on the pooch, but would be just as useful strapped around a bike-rider's arm or leg. It’s 16" long (tightening down to 12") OA x 1" wide; each has a black plastic buckle, on/off push button, and a small D-ring near the middle for a leash. The LEDs flash approx 2X/sec and there's a small pouch that holds a tiny PC board and replaceable button cell battery. The package may or may not call it a "leash." Pay no attention.
