Just leave bread in a damp place. Or buy this stuff and make casts of solid objects, anything from faces and fingers to celery and crucifixes, with quick-setting Instamold. (We'll sell you 10 oz. of the Instamold compound, but you provide the water to mix it with.) Then fill the molds you've made with plaster, wax, or Permastone-yes, we sell Permastone too. It's an extremely strong casting medium with a clean white hue when set, waterproof and scratch resistant. Each can we sell has 1-3/4 lbs. of Permastone, to be mixed with water.

Wernerite and fossil algae. All are very interesting, and a few colors really pop under ordinary blacklight -- but we have to admit that today's fluorescent paints and laser shows have spoiled us for the more subtle glow of a rock. Geology for those with short attention spans? The original Magic Rocks®, of course! Mix the solution in a jar of water, drop in the pebbles, and watch them grow into a forest of multi-color stalagmites. Growth starts in 10 minutes, is impressive in 30 minutes, and complete (up to 4" tall) in 2 hours. Extra credit if you can make it grow stalactites by gluing the pebbles to the bottom of a jar, then pouring the solution in and turning it upside down. Who knows? Maybe it will work. Comes with a set of marine decals to decorate the jar. Definitely not for use with living fish. For ages 10 and up.

The Driest Rocks On Earth

Tektites, called glass rocks, are formed when meteorites from outer space crash into our home planet and, by Jupiter, no rock collection is complete without one! The driest of all rocks, tektites are black to olive-green, and average less than .005% water. These samples will be roughly 1/2" to 1-1/4", and you'll get (2) to (4) of them, depending upon their size.
