But first, a caveat for the devout emptor: If the word "sacrilegious" gives you pause, you might want to stop reading right now. If not, then this is your chance to quite literally chuck a (tiny) nun with the Nunchuck hand catapult. Frankly, we don't think the chucking game gets any better than this. The spring-loaded black-and-white-plastic nun-gun is 5-3/4" long and comes with (4) assorted Little (1-1/4" tall) Sisters of the Air, ready to soar across the room. Extras available in packs of (10), despite the decline in vocations. (We get extra points, by the way, for not making Flying Nun jokes in this description, but you should feel free.)

Sold as a "passport wallet," it's plenty big enough for that, but is also just the right size for airline ticket sleeves. Measures 4-1/2" x 9" when closed with its spring-loaded clasp. Inside it has a coin pouch, (6) slots for passport, money, credit cards, whatever, and a clear slot for a photo ID. In brown leather (or more likely an excellent leather-like substance) and beige linen/canvas.

38003 PASSPORT WALLET |
This is a plastic version of the gray spring toy that rhymes with stinky, but it's twice as tall, many times longer, and a gazillion times more colorful. Ours is 3" in dia x 5" tall and runs through the spectrum twice before it's done, which is pretty near forever. It stretched the length of our office, maybe 35 feet, and still had more to give, which makes us think that aside from its toy potential, it'd make a honey of a party decoration, like an indestructible crepe paper streamer. Get a few of them and your festive adornment needs are met forever.

THE American classic novelty item (even ahead of the whoopee cushion and rubber vomit, we think) is a set of chattering choppers. Auto-dentures. Invented by Eddy Goldfarb in 1949, a man who made the Toy Industry Hall of Fame ahead of Milton Bradley, these are, not to put too fine a point on it, the sine qua non of gagdom, the ne plus ultra of spring-driven frivolity. Ours are 2-1/2" dia, with a wind-up key.

Look at the kids eyeing this bobble toy! A green claw holds an approx 2" dia eyeball too garish to be truly yucky, and they both rock on a particularly springy spring with a self-adhesive metal base. It'a a dashboard (or skateboard) toy made for the prepubescent (or permanently pubescent) driver.

Medium-duty nylon tie-down, 1" wide x 5-foot long, in assorted colors (which we'll pick). It has a non-ratcheting, spring-loaded steel latch with a 1-1/4" ID, and a 4-1/2" long, rubber-coated steel hook. The hardware is heavier-duty than the nylon strap.

Or at least pretty old. The circa '70s car-radio tuner from Philco-Ford has a 6-position rotary switch with spring-loaded gears. Scrounge lots of capacitors, resistors, chokes, diodes, etc., from this tuner, or display one next to your favorite buggy whip.

Think ahead. On a day while it's still warm, peel the backing off these 1/4" deep x 1-3/4" dia black rubber disks (leave the double-sided white film in place!) and mount them over your car door locks. The key fits through a slit, but the rubber and the air space protect your locks from cold, sleet and snow. Come spring, donate these miniature pie-plates to someone with a doll house. Our "each" is a pkg of (2).
